I have given up alcohol now since 1st October 2011 and have to say that it hasn't bothered my in the slightest... I am planning to give it up for a year... so my next drink will be on 1st October 2012...
From the 1st November, I am planning to give up CHOCOLATE (and sweets) for a year... Yep, there is christmas, new year, birthdays etc etc but if I can do it over Christmas, I can do it anytime... me thinks this is going to be MUCH HARDER than giving up booze...
Haven't decided what to give up in December.... I fleetingly thought of coffee but that is ridiculous as I generally need it to get through my day at work LOL... I also thought bread, but now is the time for soup and I NEED bread to dunk in my soup... So I think I will give up giving up something new, just for the month of December and start giving up something new in January LOL...

What about giving up booby munching? I reckon you'd find that harder than alcohol and chocolate combined! ( o )( o ) Using milkshake to bring all the boys to my yard since 1972

Fizzy drinks? They tend to be laden with additives and sugar.

Ohhhhhh that is a good idea, but could only keep it for 10 months unless I started to have Vodka and Freshley squeezed oranges in my vodka next October... hmmm now there's a thought... That would be one of my 5 a day... Ohhhh Caracal, I think you have done wonders... I will plan it for December... LOL *hugs* *smooches*

It does get me thinking tho, what things would I give up and why. My foods are varied, so nothing I think I would give up there. If I drink alcohol its borboun and coke although I hardly drink and not to get drunk either. I don't watch much telly and not on a daily basis at any rate. I do a lot of things in moderation, maybe too many. I could not think what I would give up until I thought about being in scene. I'd give up "time".

I gave up bread last year ... it's hard to do, but I feel so much better for it. I started off just giving up for 4 weeks at a time, then having a free day of eating it. I had real cravings in the final few days of the last week, but gradually I increased the weeks I went without it. Now, I regularly go months without even thinking about it and when I do have it, I've found it really bland and tasteless ... even the really tasty stuff that I used to love. I no longer actually restrict it, but just find it doesn't interest me anymore. Put me on a pedestal, but be there to catch me if I fall.

I stopped on the 4th of Sep for a 30 day experiment, mostly for weight loss and to regain control I guess. I'm still tea total and don't see or feel the reason or compunction to drink booze at present, if a situation arises where I could have a drink amongst friends I may have one but no more drinking at home alone just because "it's the weekend" P.s everyone at work thinks I'm crazy but that's nothing new Keep it up kid...
