Yep. For those of us who already know what we want the fetish fairs are great. Erotica has the advantage of glossy, mainstream, large-event advertising and appeal to draw in a larger crowd and wider selection of people to a non-threatening, mainly "vanilla" environment. It's a less daunting, embarassing, and more easily justifiable thought for the curious / uninformed / undecided / newbie to go along to Erotica than a dedicated "underground" fetish market populated by decidedly kinky people, particularly if you've never been to one and could have all sorts of imaginary expectations. I dare say there are quite a few kinky people whose fledgeling interest in bdsm was nurtured by going along to Erotica and spending an enjoyably disproportionate amount of time perusing the fetish stalls, in much the same way as tentative teenage forays into Ann Summers would consist of a cursory glance at 80% of the stock on the way through the main part of shop to get to the interesting / fascinating "bdsm" stuff in the room out the back. To use that analogy, the interesting stuff is definitely there (like Freak clubwear and others), it just doesn't define the event, which has so much else going on in the venue. As a fun event, with a partner or even friends I'd say it was worth a visit. At the very least it will ensure the subject of conversation is sex all day. | ||

We went and had a good day. Bit expensive on the door but the stalls were good, the shows were entertaining, saw some lovely people. Less sex toys and more BDSM this year than before. Would go again. ______________________________ | ||

Agreed. We were there for a while helping out @Kitana and @Catattack on the http://www.freakclubwear.co.uk/ stand. Had a lot of fun advising, corrupting and generally helping people to buy kinky things and giving out the new curious magazine. Saw a few familiar faces too. I must say well done to those who put in the effort and hard work to make it an enjoyable event. |
