http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2047651/... So if this goes through and when lots opt in, will they finally STFU? Or will they start on to the police to visit the homes to ensure there's no computer access in kids rooms? Ludo Edited Mon 10 Oct 11, 11:47 PM by Ludovic | |

I've already put K9 web protection on our little 'uns PC, even though he doesn't know how to navigate off the CBBC and Nickelodeon websites yet. I'm rather pleased with it as a product, but it does highlight some of the problems that are always going to plague content restriction. For example, how do you categorise image hosting sites that allow adult material? If you allow them, then some porn will get through, but if you don't, then your kid's going to get a red X where there should be a picture of Spongebob. The opt-out Internet filtering, I can live with. We already have it on our mobile phones, after all. To date, I've had to opt out of content filtering on O2, Voda and T-Mobile, though not on Three as I recall. For people who treat computers purely as consumer electronics, external filtering is a sensible catch-all. For those who don't have kids or who are prepared to take responsibility for what their children do on their computers, there's always the option to have filtering removed. Should teachers who want to watch depraved pornography be allowed access to our children? I think NOT! I propose we match our ISP records of sordid adults with the GTC list of teachers and strike off any matches! This is the thin end of the wedgie! |
