I have clarified the advert following feedback: I am in effect advertising a position as a girlfriend. There are many kept men and women who provide services to a household as part of the deal. I have had previous partners who fulfilled almost exactly that role, and I wish to find another. Further, if you add up the value of what I'm offering it is actually significantly in excess of the minimum wage anyway (board, lodging etc). It would only be slavery if I restricted their movement. I must admit, when I saw the advert originally I thought it seemed like a very good arrangement and an extremely generous offer for someone, and was gobsmacked when people mentioned slavery and minimum wage. If I was 25 years younger and female I might even have considered it myself. Best of luck to you, and I hope you find someone suitable. It's an agreement between consenting adults, not a job advert (listed under 'Legal' at the bottom of the ad). If the relationship described works for everyone - and I can imagine that the "right" person is out there - then power to the advertiser and the applicants. It is up to Admin whether he feels that this kind of arrangement is suitable for advertisement on IC. The pleasure of stopping other people from having fun. We are hateful souls at heart, for whom joy and laughter is anathema. If we had our way, the world's radio stations would be restricted to playing Morrissey, My Bloody Valentine and other music apparently designed to self-harm to 24/7. Orwell was one of us - when he was writing 1984, the first draft had Winston Smith living out his days in a world of drudgery and hate before committing suicide three chapters in from sheer despair. (The entertaining thing is that I get the impression people think anything would be different if those criteria weren't in the original ad and that some ugly, fat man with dubious hygiene would have an equal shot at getting the job. Which isn't true. I was turned down weeks ago.) Basically as I am seeink it, Ray, the problem is that you are not callink your girlfriend for five months. You see, the hot babies like to feel wanted.
