What a wonderful day it was yesterday, the weather was gorgeous, almost tropical and it felt surreal wandering around in a summer dress and sandals once more. Master picked me up at 9am and we went to a farmers market, he had said we would have a day out somewhere nice so I was expecting to maybe go up to the Lakes or to Southport or somewhere else not too far away so I was gob smacked when he told me that we were going to my favourite Chatsworth House in Derbyshire which is a good hour and forty minutes away. Id reconciled myself to the fact that we wouldnt get there this summer so it was a real surprise and I could hardly wait to get back into the car and on our way.
It was fun to drive with the windows down enjoying the sun and the warm breeze and at one time the outside thermometer showed 28 degrees...wow. Once we arrived at Chatsworth(the film 'The Duchess' was filmed there and it was actually home to Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire and the 5th Duke of Devonshire....we parked up and then leisurely walked around the magnificent house. It was busy but didnt spoil it for me at all, even though Master has taken me there a few times now I always get a thrill from it and seem to see something new every time. This time there was an exhibition of letters from the 6th Duke to his Mother and sisters which fascinated me.
Outside we decided to have some lunch, we went to the Restaurant and enjoyed good food and a large bottle of sparkling water as we were both thirsty from the hot weather. We both settled on chicken breast in a casserole and then Master had cheesecake while I had apricot tart with clotted cream. After our delicious lunch we walked around the huge gardens and woods in the sunshine, I took my sandals off and enjoyed the feeling of the grass between my toes. Master mentioned that last time we were in a wood I had my bare ass whipped with a long thin piece of branch as I lent against a tree but there was no chance of that happening this time with so many people about unfortunately. We wandered around the huge lake and watched the fountain spray water everywhere....Master pushed me to the edge of the lake so that I got sprayed and then I dried off in the sun.
Later in the afternoon Master drove us over to a town about ten miles away, Bakewell. Its a lovely little town and we had intended just stopping for a cool drink but as we got out of the car the smell of fish and chips wafted over to us and made both our mouths water. Of course we just had to have some for our tea and they were delicious. We ate them smothered in salt and vinegar as we walked though the town. After we had eaten we were even more thirsty so we sat outside a pub for a cold drink in the early evening sunshine. It was really just like being abroad as folk walked past us in summer clothes and the air smelt of summer...we could hardly believe it was the 1st October.
We drove slowly home after our day out, I was glad Master was driving cos the mixture of warm weather and good food made me sleepy and by the time Master dropped me off at mine I could hardly keep my eyes open.
I had a quick shower, got into my dressing gown and then made myself a mug of hot milk into which I stirred a chocolate dipper which Master had bought for me from the farmers market and I was tucked up in my bed by 9pm...a very tired but happy slave ish ![]()
Woke up this morning expecting to see more brilliant sunshine and looking forward to getting my housework out of the way, pegging washing out and then sitting out in the sun with a book for the rest of the day..alas, I woke up to rain and darkened skies...I could hardly believe it after yesterday.
Ah well, Ive cleaned up and read some of my book curled up on the sofa. Really strange weather, even though its still raining slightly its very warm and Ive got the windows wide open.
Gonna iron soon...I put it off for as long as possible cos I hate it and then going over to the supermarket for bits and pieces.
Will be seeing my Master again sometime during the week..cant wait
