You all have a vast amount of knowledge about everything so I need your advice on my partner's nipple piercing. He had it pierced just over 18 months ago with a ptfe (plastic) bar. It was always tender and never healing. I bought him a silver bar couple months ago and it started to heal and stop hurting him but lately it has started weeping slightly and is sometimes crusty. When I had mine done it healed within a month. Is this normal to take this long to heal or is his body rejecting it? Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry? Did that hurt? i've had mine done about that length of time it still weeps and gets crusty and it always will be someone explained it to me as the skin and stuff basically being chucked out as it's always essentially an open wound. According to my piercer friend it's totally normal

I had both mine done in 1998 ... one never healed properly and I had my last infection from the scarred one just last year! I gave up with them both in about 2000. Raw cabbage is good to stop pain and nipple pumps have brought my damaged nipple back to some normality again. All the best with it xxx

Mine only really healed after a year. Whenever possible try to get a titanium bar as this has the lowest rejection rate. Worked for me anyways.

Have had mine for three years. It hurt and weep for at least two years, still find that it becomes infected easily. Each night I spray it with Dettol which has really helped.

If you want to post this on the @modified_bodies group weblog too, you're more than welcome. Think there might already be some threads of interest to you there too. x Quick Lynn, run, they're sex people

ive got mines done and ive had no problems with it..my friend is a piercer so i know a little about things.plus ive had ALOT of piercings.. its most likely the body is rejecting it..try cleaning it with salt luke warm water or a sterile solution.tell him to stop playing about with it and just leave it alone! nipple infections can be very painfull.also try ibrufon it sometimes helps if theres swelling occuring. overall best to go into the shop where he got it done and let the person have a look.
good luck | |

Plastic is a soft material, so any tiny scratches that are made in that soft material will harbour bacteria, making it hard to keep it clean. I think the plastic bars are only for short term wear when you're in hospital? I would second the recomendations for titanium - my helix wouldn't settle even with surgical steel, but as soon as I swapped to titantium it healed nicely, so both my nipple bars are titanium too. I healed many of my piercings, including my nipples, with tea trea oil (from the body shop!). Yes it stings (oh boy does it sting!), and can iritate some people, but as it's an oil it lingers longer on the piercing and stops it drying out. May be worth a try, and I hope it settles down soon. |
