Having the same problem with.....

EDF I am?

June this year I received a letter that I was being dropped from the 'Read, reduce, reward' scheme as they were not giving Nectar points.

I also will be billed monthly (apparently that saves them money), even though I was not consulted about it.

I immediately rang them up (in June) and told them I did NOT want monthly billing but to be left on quarterly billing. I was told that had been done for me.

Lo and behold a few days later I get a bill in that is a copy of my last bill with more units used added on.

Another phone call I get told again that it is done for me.

Almost a month later I get my 'Monthly bill'

Another phone call and get told again that I am on quarterly billing.

Today I get yet another bill that is my 'Monthly Bill' that actually covers 5 weeks.

Another call and I demand to speak to a supervisor. I get told that yes I am on quarterly billing. I then ask why I am getting my last monthly bill again with an extra week's electricity added on. 5 minutes bullshit and claptrap later I'm none the wiser.

I shall wait and see if my next bill next month will be the proper quarterly bill that I should get is correct.

It seems that the standard response to any query to EDF is send out another bill.

If they really wanted to save paper then why don't they send the bill out on blank paper instead of the expensive pre-printed paper they do use. On the back of every page are all the details of how to contact them, how to pay and what they have got from the goverment (their crystal charter thingy). They only need that printed once on each bill NOT on the back of each page of the bill.

Rant over usual service will now continue after a coffee and digestives. :-)

Call Consumer Direct energy (they replaced Energywatch) and get some advice. If your contract stipulated quarterly billing I doubt they have the right to change to monthly unless a clause is written in.

the energy business is a big evil market.

I want to be as free in life as I am in my mind.
