http://ca.news.yahoo.com/italian-student-killed-... Looks like this can attributed to mixing too much drink and too many drugs with risky play.
So tragic.

For those who aren't on Fetlife. >>>In a nutshell, a male bondage top tied up 2 consenting young women after having drinks and doing some drugs. He had them bound without the use if twirl hand and connected them to one another by attaching a rope around their neck and over a pipe. Only one girl could be on the floor at a time or at least fully able to breath fully at a time. During this predicament scene one girl passed out and lifted the other into a full neck suspension which as reported killed her. The top has been arrested and has been charged with murder and the girl who passed out is in guarded condition in the hospital. The person who first posted this story has said that he personally knows the top and once the collapse happened the girls were released and help was called. No confirmation on any if this but from what I gathered from reading what has been reported it seems that the drugs/alcohol had a major factor in this death.<<<

They've started moaning that Yahoo! is censoring the word 'fuck' from replies. I'm thinking of logging in to point out that 'BDSM' is being allowed.

I just read through what I can find on this and the reports and accuracy vary. It appears to have been a consensual activity and may or may not involved a complex double breath play suspension (this isn't clear). What does appear to be clear is that they had been using drink and drugs and that he didn't have the ability to get the girls out of the suspension quick enough. It takes awhile to suffocate / strangle someone. You should be able to cut people out of a suspension enough to allow them to breathe within ten minutes no problem. I guess the full and final details will never make the press over here. No man is good enough to govern another man without that other's consent. Abraham Lincoln

Whatever media report a story it will be slanted to suit their needs [And they call us perverted!]. As has been pointed out drink and drugs were a major theme in this unfortunate episode and perhaps a separate thread to discuss everybody's point of view on this in play would prove helpful. It sounds to me like a combination of drugs, booze and lack of anticipation about what could happen. There's a saying:- "Accidents happen to the people who don't have the imagination to see them coming" But, of course, we will never have enough information about this case to really know - and will have to either trust, or not trust, the authorities in their assessment. *UPDATE* Model(s) for "how to" bondage photographs (and other bondage photographs) have now been found. Thank you to all who showed interest.

I have just posted this response on that site in my own name: As the ex-chairman of SM Pride in the UK I should point out that BDSM people have been a community for more than 20 years. Statistically About one person in eight or one person in 10 is BDSM inclined. In the UK 43% of people admit to trying spanking or light bondage. Think of 100 people you know - eight are almost certainly kinky and 12 probably are. Until the trial takes place it is unwise to comment on this case but (on the basis of the report above) it would appear that it was the drugs which caused the problem, not the bondage. Standard advice to all BDSM people in our community is NOT to drink or take drugs during 'a scene' as this can lead to the dulling of responses - 'flight or fright' is reduced. 99.9% of all scenes complete safely and no-one is ever harmed. It is only the rare accidents which make the news and these are normally in - even for us - bizarre circumstances. There is plenty of good advice about BDSM safety available on the net and I would suggest sexuality.org is a good one. We also use the term R.A.C.K. (risk aware consensual kink). It is awareness of risk which normally ensures safe play for all consenting parties. On this occasion that awareness was probably dulled by other factors. It is a tragedy and one we can all learn from - Barry Flogher - I cane, I whip, I cuddle |
