I always found that if I mentioned that I liked the film Secretary, the kinksters out there would find me :)
Then, when they look at your profile expecting a sub, how do they react to seeing the word sadist instead? Or are you just messing with their heads? ;)

Me too. Yes it may be a film that everyone knows, but it seems unlikely someone would put it as a favourite film without some interest.
It's not really a code word if everyone knows what it means though :) It's inviting attention from people with the wrong idea.

Actually that was one of the problems, we don't really own the word 'kink', the media does. Dare to mention it and vanilla girl often thinks 'whips, chains and Saw movies' before running away screaming.

I should have thought any mild use of innuendo might engage the interest of the salient people. However, be aware that CBT might be taken to mean the compulsory motorbike examination, and that any such exhortation might encourage the attention of the white coat brigades with their spare long-sleeved jackets...

This is inspired and truly hilarious. I only wish there was some shorthand method or code by which I could convey how much it made me Laugh Out Loud, and Roll On The Floor, Pissing Myself Laughing.

Is there any etiquette or convention on dropping kinky hints in conventional vanilla personal adds - like the ubiquitous Match.com for example?

There are many agreed common forms within the community but why not for this? It just seems like a really good idea that some agreed phrase or wording would really help the community because it would extend our range and network onto vanilla sites as well, but in a non-obtrusive way.

It could be just a nice little flag to those of us who are in the know, but not offensive or upsetting to those who are not.

Well, it wasn't so much a gentle hint but an ad in a local paper here was "looking for over the knee fun"

Didn't the use of the letters N.S.A. on vanilla dating sites be a bit of a give away and a starting point.

Result being some VERY cryptic messages?

"Seeks his Lady Gwendoline" (a reference to the Marquis de Sade) I always thought was a good one.

"You have to take the rough with the smooth with you. I do not think you are the way you are in order to have your rough edges worn off" - F.

And what is NSA? (for the poster above...)]

I always thought it meant "No Strings Attached", so basically looking for casual sex. Not really relevant to anything BDSM? More of a general term if you ask me, I have non-kinky friends who use it.

Yes, you're looking for SA.

How about, "not only strings attached but ropes tied prettily"... Too obvious? :-D

a lot would surely depend on who you are ... if you are a good looking woman then a few subtle hints will get you more messages on a vanilla dating site than you can handle .. if you're an ugly bloke then probably not as many ...

women on vanilla sites, according to the many many profiles i've read and rolled my eyes at are looking for the following ... a good hearted man ... a man with a good sence (i know, you'd be suprised how many can't spell) of humour ... loyal (kind of stating the obvious, who wants someone who isn't !) .... a normal man (probably best to avoid these ones) .... i could go on but i think you get my point .....

all for one and fuck the rest
