Equipped would mean straps, power lifting suit or bench shirt.... That sort of thing. If I were you, so long as you're not injured, i'd get some liquid chalk! It's amazing the difference it makes especially on deadlifts :)

ETA.... Bodybuilding wharehouse do some good quality cheap straps ;)

unequiped means you can just wear a belt

equipped means straps wraps suits and all that stuff.

id stay clear of lifting straps if you can your better off letting your fingers learn to come unless your lifting seriously big weights.

if you must though id have a look for something called versa grippers.

Let me get this straight. You have sought the advice of an osteopath due to assorted aches and pains? you cant sleep at night due to the pain in your hands and suspected carpal tunnel? And your fingers are slipping on the bar? Who told you this tosser was a professional? Don't tell me, he did, am i right?

If your doing squats I'm puzzled why your fingers are feeling tender. Your grip might be causing this but I'd doubt it. Straps any gloves won't make much of a difference as your hands are elevated I can only see an issue if you were doing dead lifts as your hands and especially your wrists come into your form more.

I've loads of bodybuilding mates and they lift serious weights and none wear gloves or straps for squats.

Does your gym have a smith machine? if so it'll help with balancing the bar. I only used to have the slightest grip on the bar when squatting.

I think you've nerve or tendon damage.

Maybe use a leg press machine till you get it sorted. If its sore its a sign something's not quite right.

My friend is a sports physio for a well known football club up here ill ask him tonite see what he says.

The fact that it became worse during rest is worrying

Ill bleed for you if you make me cum.

I always wear straps when deadlifting 200kg and over but I'm training my back not my grip...

When she says 'power lifting' she actually means deadlifting.

Ok then that kinda makes it easier to guess at whats causing the pain as to Squats.

To the OP.

As mentioned by others and myself you've more than likely damaged something and that's whats causing the pain, if it gets worse when your having a rest period I'd personally seek the advice of a medical professional possibly a sports physio as they tend to deal with exercise related injuries.

Lifting HOOKS may possibly reduce the strain on your wrists a bit better than straps alone.

This site has a few different products that might be of help

Again if its dead-lifts that are causing the problem a smith machine will stabilize the weight better than free lifting but with the same results and allow you to work on your posture more.

If your being trained by a professional then maybe he/she needs to re-asses the exercises he has you doing to minimise the effect its having on your fingers/grip.

It will ultimately effect most of your training eventually.

Loads more exercises to train your lower back and other related muscles.

My good friend used to be number 3 in the world for natural bodybuilding around 10 years ago and she couldn't help me with your question as finger pain from squatting as you said is pretty rare.

I've txt my physio friend to explain that its deadlifts that you were refering to "Hope thats right ?" as im going by what Tthought_Policeman said.

Hope you get to the bottom of it :)

My friend txt me back and said you have all the typical symtoms of Carpel Tunnel.

Compression of the MEDIAN NERVE is probably whats causing it and like you described the pain and tingling can be worse at night. He did say its strange after such a long rest period for it still to be worse as its basically the inflammation decreasing that will reduce the pain.

Hes suggested taking an anti-inflammatory and taking a total break for 3-5 days from any weight lifting that involves your wrists and see if the pain reduces or disappears if it doesn't he said next step would be an injection and if that doesn't help surgery to allow more room for the nerve.

Hope that helps :)

Hi there :-)

To clarify, my osteopath chum's advice was given many months ago when my symptoms were most likely connected with using my mouse with my hand in a bizarro position. The more recent symptoms seem more directly related to the deadlifting, I think, but I'm going to consult with a sports physio next week to shed more light on this.

Wouldn't it be easier to get someone else to do the power lifting whilst you just supervise, crop in hand.

I thought that was what Domme'ing was all about?
