Looks like Saturday night is all about CVs, cigs, The Smiths, and the sorry state of my alliteration & procrastination in progress, whilst seeking somehere new to work. Please please please let me get what I want: Lord knows it would be the first time.
The job I love comes to an end in just under two months time and I'm trying to motivate myself to apply for work but I just want to mope around my room listening to miserable music as that's how I'm feeling.

I love The Smiths, best 'down' music ever!! The chains that bind my mind are stronger than the chains that bind my body

Being forced to listen to The Smiths was a very effective deterrent a Dom of mine used to use. I still shudder at the thought. But then I'm strange. Carry on. Bite my shiny metal ass

Actually, my (nilla) ex used to play The Smiths on loop and I just seemed to accept them by osmosis, having detested them for years prior to that. I only realised I liked them when I was listening to Morrissey's much later solo album: You are the Quarry, and he was being interviewed by Jo Whiley. Instead of being the pretentious whiny so and so that gives us vegetarians a bad name, he was so down to earth and I just realised I actually liked the music and was projecting my annoyance at Mr. Morrissey's reputation for being a bit of a tw@t. A similar method was used to get me to like Einsterzende Neubauten. I've been to see them live twice since then and actually met Blixar Bargeld - he's such a gentleman. Saying that, no amount of overexposure will EVER EVER EVER get me to listen to the following without thinking "red red red - time out - red red red - hard limit!": Sonic Youth (I cannot abide Kim Gordon) Deftones Blur All of these have also been overplayed to me and I know have a knee-jerk reaction of clasping my hands to my ears and going "lalalala - I cannae hear you". I want to hold you close / Skin pressed against me tight Edited 3 Sep 11, 9:54 PM by MissAnnThropist |
