Modern travel is a wonderful thing , you can check in online , print out your ticket , choose your seat...
But you still have to go through the airport...
Now I have seen a few airports in my time , Dublin has to be one of THE most efficient and well run ones I have ever seen , a joy to pass through.....I just wish I had to keep my belt on , I hate that bit.
Flying , I always forget the mechanics of it , taking off , climbing, but when you ascend through the clouds to see such an amazing sunset, then your fed and watered (a nice little bottle of red , of which I blagged two extra , for research purposes of course) we come into land.
Now I live VERY close to city airport , I can remember the day it opened , but this is the first time I had flown into it.
So we bank around , and I see my home , the EastEnd , following the A13 up , past the Dagenham Cinemas , along the Thames corridor till we landed.
Through to customs and baggage reclaim and then spat out into the night.
Surreal moment , we were piped out of the airport by a fully dressed piper , Ode to Joy on the bagpipes , something to behold.
then a 474 home , stop off at the chippy and a five minute walk up my road...
cant beat it

I hate flying, hate all the hassle, passport control, sitting in the building, getting on and off the plane, queuing. Like the flight though. The rest is a necessary evil to European holidays. ~ It is always by way of pain one arrives at pleasure ~ | |
