This is way true. From what I've seen, the biggest issue they've had when exploring some of these inklings is that whenever they ask their partner to tie them up, one of two things usually happen:

1) The partner does a shit job of it. Bondage is not props, bondage is the sense of freefall that comes from having control plucked away from you, to whatever extent. S'galling, how this is never explained in those shitty, asinine guides to SPICING up your sex life. Bondage that's not actual bondage is almost a kind of cruelty, I suppose.

2) It's somewhat begrudging. I mean, if you sense that your partner's only doing it to make you happy and doesn't actually give a shit within themselves outside of the appeasement process, then you're hardly free to enjoy yourself, are you? Fucking, and all its accoutrements, are about establishing a wicked loop of sensations, not some bedroom-equivalent of community service.

Anyway, yeah. There's probably a massive wedge of the population out there who'd enjoy what bondage can provide to whatever aspect of their lives, but either they'll never approach it due to 'kink' being such a damning blanket-statement of perversion-conflations, or because any furtive explorations have left them feeling embarrassed/dissatisfied.
