That's good. Can you tell me what you think I've figured out so we can both be thinking along the same lines.

while i'm flattered you want to share my line of thinking, i don't think it'd advance our cause much here.

i made an observation, somewhat impulsively, developed it into an idea, and because i'm stubborn and contrarian i thereafter advocated for that idea. i still think it's a good one, i don't regret putting it out there. but not perhaps good enough to induce me to spend a lot of time being drawn into whole other pointless avenues of debate.

I wasn't intending to flatter just try and work out what your line of thinking was on my view. You're entitled to post ideas of course but likewise I'm entitled to have a contrary view and if I think you are right I'll change mine. In this instance however I don't think your case supports significant change in my viewpoint.

Have at it yourself! If the OP and purveyor of idea can't be arsed.... then I definitely can't be arsed!

What about you, Theo Paphitis? Are you also out?

Ah well, there go my dreams of a mansion in Surrey, a celebrity column in the Daily Express and and all the Burberry accessories I could buy.

sigh.

The way I see it, Sad Girl, whilst bemoaning the nature/frequency of some memos received, is saying that some sort of system of identifying certain people who send such memos might be helpful and beneficial to new members.

The response appears to be to tell Sad Girl to simply block such senders, which to some degree does miss her point as, whilst that spares Sad Girl future memos, it doesn't help any new members, which if I'm right is largely the point of the original post.

That said, I'm not sure I neccessarily agree. If you put an ad up then you are looking for people to memo you, and as a consequence I guess you should have to expect to take the rough with the smooth. If not you can simply not put an ad up and instead be proactive and search profiles yourself and only write to people who you'd like to talk to.

Such a warning system may also be somewhat arbitrary, as one persons nuisance might be anothers ideal.

I'd have to agree with this …..

We all know the pack that hits on every new name or profile that appears in the ads – but – as said ….. one persons nuisance etc

You have been on here long enough to know this (and to complain about it) but you are the one who changed your profile, so pucker up and expect what you know will happen.

What I think is unfair about your proposal is that it may suit you – but not others.

You have the option to block them from sending memos to you – what you ask for is the option to block them from sending memos to others.

Your personal judgement on somebody should not impose restrictions on everyone else

Ever wondered who the devil comes to for ideas ?
