£550 for a cage! You ARE kidding me!

Seems like there is one born every minute.

Quite a narrow minded response. I know several Domme's who have this type of equipment, you get what you pay for and thats impressive, sturdy, lasting equipment with a touch of class and menace to them. Nothing whatsoever wrong with getting a cheaper version (I had one myself), but thats no reason to stamp yer little feet.

I wouldn't go for a fold away one again. It's better going smaller and finding somewhere to conceal it if you don't have the play space.

I am not stamping my little feet - actually, they are quite large.

Have an opinion about something, fair enough. Being patronising to someone with a different view is another matter.

My view stands.

Saying there's one born every minute is fairly patronising wouldn't you say. And at least I didn't call you dear, dear.

weigh up the cost of material wether it be iron or steel box tubing, then factor in how many hours for design and welding, often the use of powder coating, and then a profit margin. Lets not forget transport costs either.

550 is not that much for a quality large cage.

My large one was around 400 but I painted it myself as it came as raw iron which I went for to keep the weight down and made it easier to replace the bars should something get stuck between them.

Thanks for good suggestions re: http://www.dungeonequipment.co.uk and Eros Furniture. http://www.puppycages.co.uk/catalog/bondage-gear... has also been a strong option from asking around, plus have had a number of helpful private memos re: 2nd hand cages (will reply in due course).

In terms of pricing, it is sometimes hard to tell if you're paying above the odds for kink gear, or whether you're paying for quality. I think £400-600 is valid for a made-for-purpose product with attractive presentation that you won't find in a pet shop (and an "investment" you'll hopefully use for years). On the other hand fettered pleasures prices do often warrant a little further shopping around. In terms of wider kink products (e.g. EMT shears) it does make you grimace when you see something sold for £5 per unit at a kink-oriented shop when you can buy them for their original trade use at e.g. 50p for a pack of 10.

Fettered pleasures shut?!

The owner of the Barnet Bastille makes custom stuff that is very high quality- not sure about delivery options though.

Hello all,

A *very* long time since I last posted. Looking for your collective expert opinions...

I'm based in SE London and may well buy a cage in the next month or so. I would be going for sturdy bars as opposed to a fold-away thinner cage sold at pet shops.

Fettered Pleasures is still trading after their Holloway Rd store shut, but only through their online store. Their cages have been popular in the past: http://fetteredpleasures.com/product/dungeon_equ.... I've also built some custom suspension equipment with Playpenz in Essex last year and may well give them a call again. Dungeon equipment in Birmingham are good and made the kit for Crimson but the distance factor is prohibitive.

Have there been any other places around South East UK where you've bought cages you've been pleased with? Many thanks for your recommendations/experiences.

PS I don't check IC all that often any more so apologies if you don't receive instant replies.

I am afraid you do get what you pay for (in my opinion). I purchased an extremely sturdy and well made cage from here:

http://www.erotichedgehog.co.uk/index.htm

Although it was over £550, the workmanship and quality is very high. Very good service and they even came to north London to install for me. Highly recommended.

P.S. This is not an advert, since I have no connection whatsoever and had no contact with the company since I bought my cage a few years ago.

allnaughtyfunforyou... profile on here can make you a custom cage and they are reasonably priced as well. If you wanna chat to them about your needs actually in person you can find them at the LFF or the BBB.
