I'm pretty sure men's trouser sizes are according to waist measurement, generally with a standardised in-seam length. Which would mean you have about a 10 inch difference between your waist and ribcage. If things 'hanging' off of you is a problem, going for a really heavy material is probably not the best idea. I would also recommend Victoria from Ultimate Leather - Mistress bought one of her Clever Leather outfits a while ago - excellent quality, but the coats are a bit over what you suggested. If you are looking for something a bit different there is also Impero Leather - some of their prices seem very reasonable. They have an online auction shop here, and you can always visit the actual shop if you want to have a proper look. At the moment Miss Wilder is winning and by a healthy margin. To be honest, it does seem a little too much for me to ask for, especially on an item which may last 10/15 years tops and only depreciates. Sure I do love some of the designs I have seen, but realisitcally I could put a few hundred towards a nice coat, and maybe put some cash towards a couple items I have seen in Rubber 55 or rubbermagic... I'd have a beautiful coat, but almost nothing to wear under it!

Thanks for that Vicky, I had a quick look and to be honest, its not quite what I'm looking for. I don't mean to be particular, but I certainly want this to be something special as it were. I don't usually get to be able to try and combine people getting me birthday presents with things that can suit dual purposes! I believe trench coats can also be referred to as 'duster coats' or at least seem visually very similar but their primary use would be for riding on horseback, I might be mistaken though... | ||

Many years ago while down at one of the London fetish markets a leather cloak caught my eye. It was striking enough for it to lodge in my mind, and with the thought that if I ever had that kind of money I'd be back. The inside to it was striped and it was as beautifully made inside as out. It may have been VW but I'm not sure. But one place that does spring to mind for something different is http://www.luxtenebrae.com/ Do be aware of the difference between bespoke and 'made to measure'. Made to measure is usually an existing pattern adopted to your measurements. Bespoke - there is no pattern, and so significantly more expensive.
Somebody mentioned Camden. I've not been down there for years but at the time of looking for custom leather stuff many of the leather shops would offer custom if you mentioned it to them. However I got the feeling that it would be farmed out and the result maybe very variable. Maybe similar to some of the ebay sellers where they take an order and the delivery time takes into account it's knocked up in somewhere like Pakistan or Turkey. Be aware that the same family often owns multiple shops for when you're haggling over price With a good budget have you thought about going on a cheap holiday? Fethiye in Turkey certainly used to be known for its leather. And you might get great value for money. Edited for Typos. Slightly misquoted from W.B.
