Hi, I've just spoken to a friend who works leather for items he makes for Kendo, he does the occasional fetish item and has looked at similar things such as you are doing now.....
"Hi, I currently work 5mm thick armour bend material for items I make for Kendo, everything I do is hand stitched as I would always put quality over mass production.
Whilst I have made paddles / tawse / floggers for people they were made with quality in mind and not price. In reality if I had to make them with profit in mind I'd never be a rich man. My paddles were all made with 3mm veg tan(2 ply), tooled and stitched but even then the time involved wouldn't have made money unless I relented and machine stitched them. I have made a 2 ply paddle from 5mm also which by all accounts from the person I made it for works well
I looked into making more and more fetish related items but after visiting the BBB found there to be an abundance of leather out there both good and nasty (Nasty in terms of what quality leather workers would produce), If you are able to bring a new slant on things with your stainless steel being incorporated then you would set yourself apart from the others. cheaply made paddles will sell, but if your anything like me, quality of my work always outshines what price I sell anything for.
Good look in your quest "
Hope that helps?

From having read here for a bit, if you have some workspace you can devote to non-animal based materials, you might do very nicely to do some bespoke work for the Vegans among us who would need knife sheaths.
What attracts me is well-made quality leather products that stand up well. That means grommets instead of just holes in the leather and well-finished symmetrical pieces. Don't ignore the F/f and M/m specialty needs.
If you go to the markets or the clubs, do look at what people are wearing and buying.
I expect you might even find a market for a human-adapted raptor hood, jesses, and bells. I'm sure that there are some folk into role-play that might lie the idea of being a raptor-for-a-day.

Can i suggest that you look to make something unique rather than set yourself up as an also ran in an already overcrowded market.
If you come up with something new and desireable then your market is global and not restricted to central birmingham.

I totally agree with Reptile unique is the only option dont fall into the trap that many out there fall into and just copy others designs there are to many already doing that, set your own style, produce quality rather than crap, create you own designs and there is a chance for you providing the copy vultures dont descend too quickiy......it a pet hate of mine, you spend time and money to develope new products only for the low lifes to steal your designs ...it sucks.

I have thought about this and theres a few things that i can take out of the field and use in making kinky gear.
especially with some of the falconry kit but just on a larger scale.
as i make all my own bell for the falconry trade i get left with off cuts of nickle silver and brass
app 1 inch wide some thinner and some thicker so instead of using stainless i was going to use the nickle silver for bands around the collars. i think once pollished they would look fantastic ...
need a bit of thought and to get to the BBB and have a look around and come away with some ideas

Thanks reptile i will . just need some ideas im going to look at some antique furnature that need repairing and see if i can encorporate some kind of sit in me chair and do as you please .
Im going to try and speak to those that have asked me to stop by, wich im greatfull for there time already .
I just need to broaden my field of manufacturing goods as the falconry industry has fallen into the hand of cheap overseas competitors . but after recent events of people losing valable falcons to cheap swivels .. there coming back to buying well made british products ..
looking forward too meeting any one thats going
