Foreign holiday options (4)

Due to a change in my personal circumstances I am considering a rare foreign holiday.

One choice is a hiring a car and doing a motoring tour of the eastern United States (New England etc) possibly around the autumn, catching the trees in all their 'Fall' glory. I'd also like to visit a few of the smaller towns and do a few motels.

However another choice is to perhaps do the Folsom Street fair and then hire a car and go north along the Pacific coast.

Has anyone done Folsom before and what's it like? Is it worth the effort?

I would recomend the West Coast.

Fly into LA , get a train up the west coast via santa barbara , then drive to somewhere like Oregon , perfection.

Motel 6 is a decent chain , but dont stint yourself.

When are you going , cos New England comes alive in the fall.

Seattle is my home town, if you want to see beauty hit Seattle and head south to San Fran. its all wow.

This is not to belittle the Mew England thing, because I've been in upstate NY in October and it was breathtaking. So both are nice.

The thing is the east coast is a lot closer, a lot easier to get to, and it'll always be there to fly into boston and drive around for a week, you could do that well into your 70s. But the west coast has a different scale, a different rawness of nature, it's more of an adventure, more wild, and I wouldn't want to put it off too long.

Just a thought.

Thank you for replies so far - all noted.

Has anyone been to the Folsom Street fair recently? Is it purely gay or more pan-sexual?

I can highly recommend the North Coast/San Francisco. It's a lovely area and the local are fabulously welcoming.
