Following on from Mindgames blog. Have you noticed how many references there are to BDSM in music these days? Just going through some of the songs on my IPOD this morning. (working from home is great sometimes) Here are a few to get you thinking.

Ashlee Simpson. la la. "I like it better when it hurts"

U2. Vertigo."Your love is teaching my how to kneel"

Girls Aloud (OK Ok I know! it's trash) Wake Me Up "You treat me rough to show that you care and I just can't refuse"

Then of course Britney .Slave

Sugababes.Freak like me.

Any more?

While there are notable album titles such as "Slaves and Masters" by Deep Purple I have yet to find a better album than the first one by WASP. They have tracks such as Tormentor, Down On Your Knees, B.A.D and The Torture Never Ends. Terrific music too.

An oldie - but Mike Oldfields 'Shadow on the wall' - I used to think the lyrics went 'Beat me 'til I feel'- which, at that pre internet stage when I felt like some kind of girly teenage freak for having such thoughts, made perfect sense to me. I've since found out that the lyrics are in fact 'Beat me 'til I'm feeble.' I saw the hugely dated (circa early 80's) video to accompany the song on MTV recently which brought back a lot of memories and also has a very stereotypical depiction of two Domme like characters lording it over some hapless invididual so who knows, maybe I got it right all along.

Maroon 5 - Harder to breathe -

Does it kill Does it burn Is it painful to learn That it's me that has all the control

Does it thrill Does it sting When you feel what I bring And you wish that you had me to hold

And i don't think anyone can argue with this one....

Madonna - Erotica -

Erotica, romance. Erotica, romance.

My name is Dita, I'll be your mistress tonight

I'd like to put you in a trance

If I take you from behind, Push myself into your mind

When you least expect it, Will you try and reject it

If I'm in charge and I treat you like a child

Will you let yourself go wild, Let my mouth go where it wants to

Give it up, do as I say. Give it up and let me have my way

I'll give you love, I'll hit you like a truck

I'll give you love, I'll teach you how to ...

I'd like to put you in a trance, all over

Erotic, erotic, put your hands all over my body (repeat twice) Erotic, erotic.

Once you put your hand in the flame You can never be the same

There's a certain satisfaction In a little bit of pain

I can see you understand, I can tell that you're the same

If you're afraid, well rise above, I only hurt the ones I love

etc etc etc........

A very old song, maybe called Hard Hearted Hannah (the Vamp of Savanna Bay?)contains the lyric : she'd pour water on a drowning man! As well as "to torture and kill 'em was her delight they say"

But is this really about BDSM? I am going to blog about this I think.

Who says I can't be a feminist *and* a submissive?
Love over gold, always!
