Where are all the "glass half empty" people? (9)

I often read posts by people proclaiming they are "glass half full" types. I don't just mean on IC, so nobody should feel like I'm talking about them, it's something I see everywhere.

That's all very fine, I appreciate the concept is about looking on the bright side of life etc.

But how come nobody ever seems to proclaim they are "glass half empty" types? Does this mean we're all "glass half full" types - and, if so, doesn't that render the statement rather pointless? Or are there a lot of closet "glass half empty" types?

Whichever way you look at it, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be...

I think if I take the glass someone is going to say

"Oi, are you nicking my drink!"

what's wrong with "optimist" and "pessimist"? I don't mind some turns of phrase, but "glass half full / empty" just seems silly.... when something's emptying it can still be half full and when its filling it can still be half empty.

I'm always a glass is always half empty type - if there's more than half in it I sip some just to make sure :-D

Sorry? Did that hurt?

Oh bummer, man. I'd reply, but I'd only get hassled by the man and that would, like, really bring me down loads and loads. It'd be just the same as the time I had that paper round and it rained and my hands got covered in ink and everything, that was, like, really depressing, man.

"Me and Kevin, we're just not the same"
Women are from Reigate, men are from Reigate. Not all of them of course, that would be silly, some are from Pimlico, or Cleethorpes, or that little village in Derbyshire who's name eludes me, or Bridlington, or Weston Super Mare, or Clac....

My glass is bottomless... so i'm not sure about the glass analogy...

I am a pessimist (though desperately trying to be an optimist at every available opporchancity)

See - my logic is, if you think the worst (in any situation), you are either right (win) or pleasantly surprised (double win)... but i am currently being brainwashed into being the most optimistic person ever - seeing the bright side in misery is a new phenomenon

Get up. Get over it. Get on with it.

I always describe myself as an optimistic pessimist. I hope that everything will be good, but I know it won't be.

Your voice, it chased away all the sanity in me.
