Compare the wealth of the US to the wealth of any rating agency and you'll soon see they are relied on heavily by speculators to make their wealth, the same speculators that played a Major part in the global financial downturn we are experiencing now.

Credit rating agencies are mostly US based, and as such the US Government doesn't really care how their ridculous pronouncements bugger up the rest of the world... The second that any of them are as unpatriotic as to downgrade the US credit rating from AAA then you can guarantee that half the senate will all of a sudden be calling for their activities to be curbed.
Therefore the US credit rating will never be downgraded... not unless someone fancies committing commercial suicide anyway!
