I haven't posted much about my headaches recently. They haven't stopped, rather, I have just stopped going on and on about them. I've gotten tired of vomiting out the same old story and figured you have gotten tired listening to it.
But, there is good news to report, and as I have a handful of friends here, I thought you might like to know.
Several months ago I stopped taking Anadin, which I was essentially living on to combat my virtually daily headaches. The concern was that the Anadin itself was contributing to the headaches, and thus making the whole situation worse. But, as it was going to take at least 7 weeks to get the drug out of my system, I was not looking forward to it. My GP prescribed me a substitute painkiller I could take, and I was on my way. Now, about 3 months later, and I wish I could say my daily headaches are gone. They aren't, but they are much, much better. For the most part, I'm rarely taking pain killers at all, maybe once a week instead of once or twice a day. Headaches are no longer stopping my life at any rate. So that is a wonderful, unbelievable, improvement!
Along with that, migraines have also reduced considerably. Until the last couple weeks, but that is another subject. Actually, until a couple weeks ago, I had been migraine free for 2 months, something that hasn't happened for 2-3 years probably. So, absolutely amazing!
Cluster headaches on the other hand, absolutely shit beyond shit! Whereas last year I was having about 2 a week, this year I'm having them every 3 days. And, when they do come, I'm getting 2-4 clusters grouped together. My clusters this year are up 6 fold. Which has forced me to up my medication to combat the clusters. And one of the side affects of the medication is headaches and migraines. So all the great work I made in reducing headaches and migraines, I've now had 2-3 weeks of pain because I've been changing my meds. And I've really just begun, because I think I need to raise it some more. But, it is improving the clusters, so once I find the right dose, and it all settles down, things should be improve again.
In a few months. Maybe in time for Christmas.
If my head doesn't explode before then.

I hope you do get it all under control soon, you clearly have been in trouble for a while. And if your head is going to explode, try wearing a full face crash helmet, that way you won't make such a mess. Hugs, Irene.
