oh my god how I hate you so. Tuesday's op can't come soon enough, the last one helped but I think the pain is returning so a 2nd op is in order on the right, will see what happens on the left.
It's making me feel sick at the moment, been awake all night with it, it's not even my hands today it is the upper arm. Hold hell it hurts :'(

You have my sympathy - I have chronic wrist pain as well (some is similar to carpal tunnel syndrome, some is a different kettle of painful fish), and I know exactly what you mean about pain that makes you want to cry. It just never goes away and wears on you. I hope the Op gives you some relief - it made a world of difference to my mum. I've been through multiple surgeries on each hand (for other problems), and feel fortunate that things have stabilised for me for the past several years. I didn't know you could have carpal tunnel surgery more than once - how many times can they do it?
Of course, asking you questions just makes you use your hands to type out the answer, so lease feel free not to respond. In all seriousness, hope you feel better soon! | |

Hi, yeah, they can only do it once, but there is further complications with a different nerve so will have to have that one operated on to either in my elbow or shoulder.

I totally sympathise - I had the op on both hands few months ago which worked, but may have to have further op as they may have knocked the nerves leading to my ring and little finger!!! Am not happy. But at least once you've had the op you'll be on the up again  Good luck x Sorry? Did that hurt? | |

I had the nerve operated on in my elbow, as that is where it was badly trapped. That was in 2004. In 2008, I started to have numbness again, so went back to the surgeon, who after tests concluded that the same nerve was trapped again in the elbow and as badly as the first time. He told me he *could* operate again, but because each operation leaves scar tissue, he felt that the most times you could operate on the same place was 3. So he treated me with anti-inflammatories and preventative measures, which more or less keeps it under control (and still does 3 years later). His plan is to delay surgery as long as possible, as he said that I clearly *will* need it again, it is just a question of when. All this to say that it *may* be possible to operate several times, depending on how the first operation goes (how much they need to open things up and how much scar tissue it creates). Carpal tunnel can be done as keyhole surgery, which should also reduce the amount of scar tissue. Hope the operation goes well and brings you some relief once the post-operative trauma has calmed down!
