I haven't been here for a while. I'm very impressed with the overhaul - I'm technically inclined and appreciate such things. As well as white being the dominant colour of the scheme - refreshing, that.
Anyway. Updating my profile and fiddling with the network thingy, and then seeing my body mass index triggered a bit of a shock. I'm _how_ pear shaped? Help is at hand, however, in form of spontaneous alliteration.... er, the purchase of a rowing machine and its installation in the garage (there are, obviously, more important things to do in garages than merely keep cars dry).
This thing is brilliant. It's a Concept 2 Model D of the sort that you get in decent gyms, and athletes (proper ones!) train with. It'll last longer than I will. But the really scary thing is that it's possible to hook it up to a PC, and race people over the internet that have done the same. Egad.
Got it on Wednesday, and have used it three times now (this weekend was a designated Lazy Weekend(tm), so I wasn't in London), clocking up 760 calories a time. Which adds up to a mildly depressing 1/7 of a kilogram of fat. Still, it'll only go up. And I was deliberately keeping my heart rate down (I got a monitor, too) to about 60%. See? Motivation for me.
But it's not vanilla. Next time Jemma gets played with, she's wearing the monitor and we're (various partners in crime) going to guffaw at the rapid bleeping which will doubtless ensue.
