Steps to get out of trouble when your newspaper is shown to be so vile that even it's "supporters" are disgusted:-

1. Act shocked and deny all knowledge *done*

2. Shut down newspaper in the hope that all the embarrassment will die with the title *done*

3. Wait a little while - maybe about six months - until the general public has forgotten and the matter is no longer a political "hot potato" *to do*

4. Start another newspaper, running just as the old one did without anyone noticing *to do*

A year from now I have a nasty feeling nothing of any significance will have chanced and another "News of the World" (under a different name) will appear, phoenix-wise, out of the ashes.

Nah. A year from now Rebekah Brooks won't even be eligible for parole.

The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.

It is sad that the innocent who have lost there jobs because of the way the paper was run, and l hope that they find new employment soon.

But it is still a pretty good day when public opinion can effectively close a paper down and show that we are tired of the "gutter press" tactics of getting a story that NOTW excelled in.

All papers have agenda's and need to find ways to sell to keep people employed but not at the expense of hacking peoples phones the way NOTW did.

Oh l don't doubt that other papers are quickly trying to cover there tracks for doing similar things and you can bet your bottom dollar that Murdock will out other papers for doing the same thing.

It has tarnished the journalistic world where so many are ethical about what they do and say.

But it was the highest selling paper on a sunday and people will always still want to read about personal tragedies and celebrities that love to mess around...

How many of us read magazines like take a break with all its "human" interest stories, so many of them around now, there is a big market for this "Jeremy Kyle" type of publishing.

So yes its good that NOTW has gone but because of our need to read such stories another will take its place but hopefully will be a bit more ethical.. Oh and l do believe l have fairies at the bottom of my garden :-D

Don't make them a priority, when they only make you an option...
