I think that people have indulged into activities which we consider nowadays to be part of the BDSM spectrum ever since they had enough to eat so they could spend their energies on more frivolous pursuits [citation needed]. So why, on this very board, are people so very concerned with the public image and the legal status of the aforementioned activities? Why not just keep a low profile and stay clear from the limelight? Yes, the question is slightly provocative and No, it doesn't reflect my personal outlook. Your Captain Jack

Because people are maliciously outed. Because people's jobs are threatenned. Because people's relationships are damaged by bigotry and prejudice. And because the above is wrong. *UPDATE* Model(s) for "how to" bondage photographs (and other bondage photographs) have now been found. Thank you to all who showed interest.

If you were in court for something you hadn't done, or fighting for custody of your children, or as the victim of a crime, would you be okay with the decision being based upon your involvement in BDSM (and by that I mean your involvement in BDSM being cited as a evidence, and/or reason to deny you contact and/or custody of your children, or justice etc)? Another I can think of is poly-parental rights, they don't exist. ETA (spelling corrections), and the job thing is very valid too, probably more valid, given it effects a larger amount of people. In my country an activist politician is in jail currently because of his involvement in alternative lifestyle, and the fall out from the maliciousness of people over that...

Can you point me to 'genuine public interest outing', please? The Red Rose Whispers Of Passion (J o'B R)

I think you are misinterpreting the term "interest". Just because it might of interest to some members of the public doesn't mean it is in the public's interest that it is reported. If anything, a BDSM activitist would argue that it is in the public's interest that the private conduct between consenting adults is NOT news worthy. Your Captain Jack

Not provocative in the context of "upsetting and annoying" people, but rather to "stimulate" discourse so new angles might be revealed which I myself haven't considered yet. Your Captain Jack
