What an uplifting programme that was. I love a good choir session so went online to find out more. I was pleased to find a choir less than 10 miles from me so decided to sign up.
I have to say it never occured to me about the cost of joining until i got the bit which said pay now.
I am still in shock!! £100 a term. It works out at £10 a rehearsal.
Then i started doing some numbers .. 3 terms a year so £300 a person a year ......... 7500 members that brings in £2250000 a year just in memberships.
I want to experience it just for a term so like a fool have signed up, not sure i can afford to continue with it though.

£100 is a lot in one hit, but it's gotta be worth it to try something you've always wanted to do? The benefits of the experience and social side must out weigh the price. £10 wouldn't last long on a night out, or in a coffee shop with a friend - it's got to be worth going for! "Me? I'm all about the hugs. |

7500 members....thats a fucking big choir , the cost is probably for the albert hall each week! "Litany, a poncy show-off with wit, a camera, and his own teeth *swoon*"

I watched an episode the other week - I was sucked in like you were, but didn't sign up yet ...
There's a "taster session" near me, might go to that. Keep us posted about how it goes! |

Try looking into a local choir, if it costs they'll really appreciate the funds. "You're so cute when you're frustrated, dear Yeah, you're so cute when you're sedated, oh dear" - Interpol - PDA |

If anyone is interested who lives out in the west.. There is a choir called "Sing Out" who meet at The Firestation Arts Centre in Windsor. They meet every Friday, 6-7pm and it cost £4.

Haven't watched the program, but most places have choral societies you can join for a lot less than that. And church choirs don't expect you to pay at all, and you still get the services of a director of music and organist. And exquisite music (though perhaps an acquired taste for some). I sing in a choir which costs £3 per two hour session including tea and biscuits. There's something about Rock Choir which I don't really like: it's very formulaic, and rather like McDonald's - no matter which franchise you sing with, everybody sings exactly the same thing, whilst doing the same moves. Although I can really understand your desire to experience it, and you will love it!
