A slightly different geekiness, but one that got a few laughs earlier in the week. ... when you burn your dinner because you got distracted hunting Google/Wikipedia for information on the formations and tactics used by Dutch cavalry in the mid-to-late-seventeenth-century, because you can't find the magazine you bought a decade earlier because it had an article on the subject in it, and a minor detail's bugging you. Aye, tis still geeky.
Question is, did you find the facts you were after? I've been guilty of bolting upright in bed thinking I have to know who it was that said/did/wrote such and such and dashing over to the computer to find out in the wee hours of the morning too. Nope. Lots of things on how the Russians and Germans differed in their deployment and use of cavalry formations from the Dutch, but, thus far, nothing on the right side of it, i.e. the Dutch. Despite the fact that at the time, they were seen as the best light cavalry in Europe, if you could afford them...
