Some I know, choose implements which produce very good results for the least effort. The Lady I have been honoured to begin to serve recently, has wondered wether it's possible to punish me if necessary, because I will cheerfully absorb a good deal of whipping/caning. As more than one person has remarked, punishment meted out in response to a misdemeanor would be a different experience, one which I would be unlikely to enjoy, knowing I had upset her, and incurred her wrath. It's also true for me personally, that the energetic use of an acrylic or polycarbonate cane really can be punishing, and can make me scream. I would fear a similarly energetic use of a Dragon cane, but because of potential injury. Give me whippy/stingy every time! More pain - less damage!! Edited to add a comma. There's a lady on this (and other) sites who I won't name (It's up to her if she wishes to identify herself) and she showed me a video taken at a well-known London venue of her receiving 500 lashes with a single tail. They were administered by a US Dom who was very expert and laid each on on her back very precisely. Before I saw this I would have said it was impossible but I know it happened. there is no skill in breaking the skin with every stroke with a 4ft whip, not breaking the skin at all with an 8ft whip though that takes some doing a dance with the devil | |||

I do agree though. The diversity of human endurance, in delivery, or reception is interesting, but it's really not important in itself, and it's really not a competition. In any case, the Domme/Dom is entirely in control of how long a session lasts, with the proviso that some are necessarilly concluded by the use of safewords, where agreed. Sessions with real masochists may be good aerobic exercise at the very least, for Dommes/Doms/Tops, and a considerable workout, which as you say, might cause injury even to a practiced Sadist, might easily be on the cards.
