Wouldn't they have to train the police on the same subject first, then?

Make them. With the appropriate legal sanctions if they don't comply. The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation - Pierre Trudeau

If you enjoyed the experience and decide to let it happen on the spot, it's somewhat different but I don't get that situation at all. At all. If you don't want that to happen, what could possibly stop you from alerting the rest of the people around you and/or turning around and slapping the guy with all your strength?

The legal sanctions are already in place - The stuff Antinomy describes or described in the OP is well within the realm of sexual assault. Rape is obviously illegal. Leering and staring is a bit more dubious and I wouldn't want to legalise against that because it's far too dependent on the supposed victim to evaluate... Cat calling and dog whistling ought to be illegal as well but how are you going to prove any of it? I mean, I have to say that, until right now with Antinomy story about a guy rubbing himself against her (which must take some time and be noticeable), the problem with a quick ass grab and the like, from the point of view of the police, is "how do you prove it"? ... which is why I think, personally, that slapping ought to be perfectly legal. Few women are going to go around slapping people for fun so I think we can assume it's an appropriate response to something like inappropriate touching... Well, I was young and shy and at first not really sure what was happening. It's intimidating, for the english, making a fuss Eventually I mustered my haughtiest tone though and when the next stop came up i looked back over my shoulder and said very loudly "Do you mind?!?" He looked utterly mortified and slid right out of the doors, backwards.

I thought that you were writing about curfews (which is what I was on about)? Easily policeable. The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation - Pierre Trudeau

It only worth reporting if it sexral assult and then there little the police can do. And if it not sexral assult the police cant act on if there no harm to body. the laws are weak. I was part of the slut walk in Manchester I was on the TV and in the papers and it totaly out of order the laws we have. Want good virgin sex? Once in a life time offer.

That may well be true. It is unlikely, however, that your insurance company would take such an enlightened view. You would be assessed as culpable of contributory negligence. To be clear - NO woman "deserves" to be raped. Similarly, nobody deserves to be mugged. But if you walk round certain places in the dark, with a Rolex blatantly gleaming on your wrist, and waving a fistful of £50 notes, it may just increase the chances of that happening to you. The point is that you are aggravating the risk of enticing others to act upon their baser instincts (however much you may protest that they shouldn't have such things). And, if a person acts or dresses in a way that can be described as "provocative", it is no surprise if it provokes. By all means let everyone enjoy "freedoms" - but common sense says that there are times and places where it is unwise to demand unfettered freedom to do as we please. It is regrettable - but it is the real world. English
