Some people will scoff but private parties like that happen often happen where specifically old men are invited with specifically young girls - often "little girl" orientated (unless it's paid for and then it's probably a YoungDommes brigade.)
How far do you want to take this really? Is it wrong that you can be turned away at the door of clubs because you're wearing the wrong clothes?
You don't need a munch for this to happen. In fact, it can be worse when it's not public - insular groups form who welcome some and ostacise others based on all sorts of traits, from religion to looks, no matter what you do.

Regenerated. Good thing about being a Time Lord. Basically as I am seeink it, Ray, the problem is that you are not callink your girlfriend for five months. You see, the hot babies like to feel wanted. If you are not callink them on the phone for a while, it is like a way of saying "you are worst song, played on ugliest guitar"

When you have a group where the default setting is white heterosexual middle aged male, it can be quite nice to go to an event where, if you're not in that group, you're not in a minority. That applies to vanillaland as much as the kinkdom. It's why there are gay bars and faith groups and women only spaces and Saga holidays and so on.
I haven't been to the U35 munch but I do like women-only events from time to time. |

My stock reply to this debate is: If people think that a "restricted" munch is less intimidating, and the existence of these munches encourages them to explore the BDSM scene, over time ending up at the non-restricted events too - where's the problem?
The only time I've been pissed off is when the majority of my female friends who also go to clubs have chosen to go to Tipping the Velvet. I don't want to deny them their night out, I just wish they'd do it on a weekend when I wasn't looking for company. A dirty mind is a joy for life.

Age restrictive munches
I have noticed a few of these advertised and wondered
a) Why?
b) Do we agree with age discrimination? |
So people who are under 35 have somewhere to go where they can socialise with people of their own generation. They also tend to be quite a bit less intimidating for new people to attend for that same reason.
There. That was easy, wasn't it? I think I'll save that and post that every time this fucking topic comes up, which seems to be about once every seven minutes.

Thank you for your input into the discussion, however was the expletive necessary?
If I have offended by raising a topic for discussion then i apologise. I did not realise raising an issue that may have been voiced at some time in the past was taboo.

In the many years IC has been operating I am sure every topic under the sun has been raised and discussed to date so by your arguement we can close all the web boards, is that what you are arguing. if you do not wish to particpate in this round then feel free not too. Maybe you can ask the adnmin to issue instructions that anybody wishing to raise a topic must search back, how many years and spend several hundred hours trawling through the hits to see if its been said before.
If it is an accepted taboo on here please advise me so I am aware.
I was curious, i asked, I am sorry i did not spend hours searching ancient entries to look for a match. i appear to have mistakenly believed the IC community would offer me insight and enlightenment.

Some topics tend to generate a lot of... "heated debate". This being one of them. So digging a well-known hand grenade out of the ground and tossing it around is likely to cause another round of the usual accusations to get thrown around. Particularly when the ideas of restriction and discrimination are both presented within the OP.
No, you don't have to search before posting, but it might help sometimes. And were you a newbie, it would no doubt have been let pass. But five years on the site and you haven't noticed this debate go by before? Seriously, what were you doing in all that time? .

I dont find the post search famility very efficent. Do you have to put in the exact words? I put in U-35 munch into the search facility and came up with 5 previous posts not really related to this topic. Am I doing something wrong? I'm sorry if my profile pic offends but...TOUGH

'age discrimination' gets a couple, 'age munch' gets more.
