I know somebody for whom social services are making life very difficult for her and her family. They have now expressed concern for her, I quote, "alternative lifestyle".

I am of the opinion that this is discrimination and would welcome your thoughts on this from a legal or personal point of view?

It very much depends on what they are considering is her "alternative lifestyle".

Details will help people give considered answers.

Precisely. If she's getting flogged to a sobbing mess by a moustachioed hard man, in front of her primary school aged children, then I think social services are pretty much within their rights...

I just wonder how did they find out? I mean for social services to get involved usually somebody has to ring a bell about something they dont go knocking on your door asking to see how you live, do they? and hwo do they find details, so who is talking and what are they talking about?

Being goth, Open air rock music (festivals), Dominant (discretely), and living on a boat/tepee/mobile home. Her views on education have also raised heavy questioning sessions. These are all thing which social services have mentioned they have got an issue with.

This slur against moustachioed men is.... :-)

And all men kill the thing they love, By all let this be heard, Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word, The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!

If her children are living in unsuitable accommodation (which could be damaging their mental or physical health and affecting them socially) and are also not attending school regularly, then she isn't being a very good parent.

Whether she's kinky or not is irrelevant.

It concerned me that she is being heavily questioned about any aspect of her lifestyle, it just seems to me that its overkill and sort of tells me there is aggression being used against her about these aspects of her life.

Can they take that attitude with her without it being discrimination? It cant be that just because she is different it is dsamaging to her children who incidentally would rather read books and play in the woods than play playstation or watch TV?
