Im chilled and not attacking, im just stating my opinion thats all.

Of course dear.

I just fail to see why it's such a problem.

I really do.

Copy and paste this if it helps:

Hi there. Please refer to me by my username in any future context. Thanks.

That's pretty much the reply i sent to the guy calling me "little girl". He replied that as he was a Dom he would call me whatever he chose to call me. *sigh*

Perhaps he's a nutcase? Or maybe he's so perceptive he knows you're a sweety?

I take it you're not? :)

Ok, so maybe I'm a teeny bit biased with this guy because he's being a tad persistant, and not in a particularly good way.

Then tell him to piss off? :)

I think I'll have to. Ignoring him hasn't worked so far! :-p

That's what your block button's for.

It's only a weblog :-)

Girl.

Aaaargh. "Hello girl". I'm not a girl, I'm bloody ancient.

Try answering with the appropriate opposite "boy". That usually solves it.

Miss, Mistress, Ma'am, all that stuff. Really annoys me and I mention it on my profile- which shows the people who can;t be arsed reading it before they contact me. I even put it in bold.

I find it was to familiar. I think some random calling me a title that should only be used if I'm in a relationship with is cheeky and presumptuous. I know most people don't see it like that, so I try not to see my arse, but I usually do!

All the others are fine. Babe, hun, darling, love, all that kind is fine by me.

It's the little things Dude, the little things.

I know I needle the crap out of people most of the time but there again, those that know me will understand that I only do it for comedy effect and ignore it.

Keep doing it long enough and everyone will have you on ignore and silence will prevail :-D

If you think you are better than me then please read this to yourself..... I am sofa king we tar did.

There's a delivery guy who often comes into work who always used to call me "young lady." I don't know why I despise it, but I do. Maybe it's just the way he said it, but it's so unbelievably patronising that it sets my teeth on edge. I did actually ask him to stop a little while ago, and he seemed a little taken aback, asking, "What should I call you then?" To which I replied, "Why do you need to call me anything?" He has since stopped :)

I've thankfully never been on the receiving end of a memo from a dom using over-familiar pet names, but I'm fairly certain it'd get my back up instantly, just as it does in day to day life. As far as I'm concerned, things like "hon" (I refuse to spell it with a 'u'), "sweetie," "darling" etc. are only used with people I have known for at least a little while; it would just seem wrong if I called someone I didn't know "hon."

Good things come in small packages... And poison comes in little bottles.

we're all different - we're not mind readers. As long as someone is courteous and doesnt call you cunt in the first (or 2nd or 3rd) breath than cant we be a bit tolerant and explain nicely our preferences.

If I called someone sweety (which being a sub is unlikely) and they told me to fuck off I would be tempted to say to them they're not submissive - just bloody rude!

I'm sorry if my profile pic offends but...TOUGH

Babe, i hate that.

It makes me cringe and raises my hackles straight away.

Not a term of endearment but another word that really annoys the hell out of me is 'cool'.

Agreed - babe, or even worse, babes, is what plebs call each other. And rock stars, obviously, but I don't know which is worse.

When someone says cool, I'm looking 'round thinking "where's a ghoul? Did he just call me a ghoul? Does he want his testicles nailing to his forehead or something?" Of course, cool is fine in discourse about fridges and ice-buckets, or how near the Coalition are to any sort of competence. But for how people are, for fucks sake, if you're cool you should have brought a coat.

@MiistressVsdog - yr comments rock :-)

Personally, I'm not a fan of "rock" in this context - too American.

Rock to me is either a stone or a loud and serious form of music, or "- & Roll", an overdone McDonalds.

In the foregoing context, may I suggest "oscillate"? You never know, it may catch on, and you may have the glory for its invention.
