As a lifelong fetishist and anarchist,it seems to me that the clampdown on freedoms is affecting us all similarly.Nonconformists are being seen more and more as a danger and more laws are being passed to outlaw us.

Could you be a bit more specific? What particular pieces of legislation (for example) are you concerned about?

The extreme porn bill, and the fact that they can now call bdsm an assualt even if consensual. Its more of a feeling than facts,or maybe I am misremembering the tories from last time. Young Bliar and his band of ambitious not quite honest wannabee tories gave us imprisonment without trial, unending life sentences etc etc and Cameron's lot are taking full advantage. Was having feelings of solidarity and hoping that more people were feeling the same. Many many "straight" (whatever that means) people are becoming aware of what its like to be on the fringes,as they realise the government will ignore them and pressure them as it sees fit. Was it 99% of people who voted against the nuclear dump in the village ? Well,Eric Pickles ignored them and went on anyway. If more fetishy people are portrayed as dangerous by the media,...ie extreme porn makes you a potential Fred West....then perhaps they may question the whole system of government we have here, where thieves and liars dictate to the people what is right and what is decent.......unthought out ramble really......

^^^^ I agree here, I hold a similar positon. For me these are both issues of personal responsibility, once the right to take responsibility for yourself and your actions is legislated against then yes, it can leave a person feeling "outlawed"....whatever that means?? The notion of what it is to "conform" as opposed to "nonconformity" leave me reeling at times...Who decides??? and why???

The rest of society because they prefer to feel comfortable rather than challenged.

Rohypnol means never having to say "Would you like another coffee?".
Religion: It makes good people do bad things.

Soylent green is made out of people.

Posting under the influence. Or if not, then sleep-deprived. If it makes no sense that'll be why.

I agree it's wrong - it couldn't be more wrong, in fact - but I should point out that legally this has always been the case. Consent is not, and never really was, a defence to assault which causes bodily harm.

I feel we are moving into angrier and less tolerant times. It is starting to feel a bit like the 80's where people felt the need to take sides. It is not just the laws but how they are used with minority groups being targeted.

We shall see......

I agree its like the old days...but at least then we got Thatcher out with a riot.....nowadays its all nice speeches in Hyde park, not enpough bricks bottles and petrol bombs. I even heard a speech by an anarchist recently saying " we need to change the image we dont want everyone to think we are all bomb throwing types" I BEG TO DIFFER....."when the people fear the government it means tyranny...when the government fears the people it brings reform and freedom" Misquoted I know but you get the point?

Anarchists are welcome on The Boat as long as they follow the dresscode.

(Which, in their case, includes a black cloak, a broad-brimmed hat, and a large fizzing bomb with 'bomb' written on it)

[ETA following the keelhauling thread of two years ago - I mention 'bomb' as a joke, not as a serious suggestion, and yes, I know that bombs kill people and are not funny]

The Boat is a wonderful SM party; if you join us you will have a lovely time.
