Dont know if this has been asked before. I think there should be a private pics option so you can keep some pics private. Then if someone asks you can give permission to see. Keeps the site clean etc. I think this is good idea anyway as theres certain pics I would like to put on but dont.

It would be good to be able to send more private pics by memo or having a way of granting another user the ability to see private pics on your profile. But, no doubt this has been suggested before and there probably a good reason why it hasn't been done. Anyone?

Been asked many times before and the answer from Admin is use Flickr or an equivalent, this is a BDSM site not a photo sharing site. http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/103615/2/... http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/62300/1#3... http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/104523/1/... http://www.informedconsent.co.uk/posts/236169/0/...

actully its a good idea, and easyer then most things, its a permission script that needs to be added basicly.

To quote our Mighty Leader: IC provides a place to post publicly visible photos (that people can see and then decide to contact you, for instance) and sites like Flickr etc also provide a place where you can selectively allow people to see private pictures. But to do that, they need to have found you somehow ... eg on a public site like IC. Rohypnol means never having to say "Would you like another coffee?".

Thank you for starting this post, and the replies. I've thought it would be useful to allow people to keep a face pic private so one could show friends what you look like if you're arranging to meet them etc.
I don't use flickr I guess I'll have to investigate as it could be useful Why be difficult, when with little bit of effort you can be impossible?

I doubt it's quite that easy - there would need to be a database of some sort to store who was allowed to see what picture, user controls to allow people to manage who can view their pictures and some headaches around preventing search engines from seeing the photos (as currently search engines can see everything on the site). I'm not suggesting it's terribly difficult but it's definitely not straightforward.

Flickr's easy peasy to use and link to, isn't necessarily such a de facto target for scrutiny regarding private user-uploaded content, and if it was, it certainly has the resource and experience to cope with any such attention. I never see IC as being under pressure to match the growing functionality of social media, something that actually makes it more valuable, in my eyes. Reinforces that increasingly critical principle: don't upload it, if you're not content to share it with everyone. And here as much as anywhere, if not more so.

Well yeah true it probably will cause one or two headaces however it is indeed easy to setup, all admin has to do is create a new cell in the network 'friends list' on the database and the pic allowing that network to view that pic. e.g. allow real people's network to view it. There could then also be an option for that pertcular pic to disable/enable it. it's now a standard feature for most forums or photo sharing sites.

I really don't understand what is so difficult or complicated about exchanging email addresses and sending face pics that way. It works for me. Aut disce aut discede. Manet sors tertia caedi |
