Hi ladies, I need some advice. I am very excited about getting involved in the club scene and want some advice about what to wear. To put it bluntly I am skint so imagination and inventiveness are required. I am quite a daring dresser anyway but am not the most slender woman in the world so prefer to keep my belly under wraps, I don't really want my boobs/lady bits on permanant display either, as for the rest of it I'm happy to let it shine. I can pattern cut/stitch/sew but would prefer as little manual labour as possible because I don't have a sewing machine. I want some ideas of whats hot and whats not. I am a big fan of colour so would prefer to be bright and beautiful rather than black. Any thoughts please? Misshell

I don't see why it has to be 'fetish' wear per se, a glamorous dress will work just as well. Edited 18 May 11, 12:49 PM by Miss_Despotic

How about Gangster's Moll, I love this look, it is decadent and flamboyant and you can really let your imagination go. It can either be a sub or a Domme, look some of those ladies really had that boss under their thumbs all time. Lots of actresses have done it from Kim Bassinger in LA Confidential, Madonna in Dick Tracy, to who ever it was that played Al Pacino's girl in Scar Face and there were a couple in Goodfella's too. Also for that 50's look, you can't go wrong with Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe for inspiration (not to mention Betty Page, though she did normally have her belly on show). I am thinking black patent Mary Jane's, seamed stockings, under a pencil (or even hobble) skirt, white blouse and some kind of fur and pearls round the neck and over the shoulders. Finishing off with bright red lipstick, pearl earrings and a hat with a veil. That should get you noticed. I was speaking to a Domme at Pedestal who had a real fox over her shoulders (she only paid £18 for it from a charity shop - bargain!). Oh yeah, she looked great and I nearly forgot the decadent little touch she did was using a cigarette holder, lovely touch.

More than once I have complimented a Lady on her shoes to be told they were bought for a very small price in Matalan. Also ebay is great as lots of vanilla people buy fetish style stuff and then don't feel comfortable wearing it or wear it only once. It sits in their wardrobe for a couple of years then ends up on ebay.

Ok and if I am a size 16, what corset size is correct for me?

Get a fitting. They're not based on dress size.

For proper steel boned corsets the general rule is take your waist measurements and minus 4" and buy that size...that tends to work most of the time with standard proportions (if you have very big boobs in proportion to the rest of you this probably won't work). Ideally you would get a fitting...but that might not always be possible...so I'd recommend doing what I did when I got my first one...find a cheap supplier on ebay...read their instructions on measurements...buy the one you think will fit and take it from there for future purchases.

eBay is definately your friend! You can pick up alsorts of things in alsorts of colours and sizes for next to nothing. I bought a lovely, great quality unworn black PVC corset for £20 recently.
Try searching for key words like goth, fetish, rockabilly, burlesque and then your dress size, lots of interesting goodies appear! "I'm not Bi.....but I'm not straight.....I'm just a bit wonky really!"

Unfortunately I don't think a fitting is possible at the mo due to financial constraints, maybe I can wait until I get a big cheque!

No need to go for a proper corset if you're skint, a pretty basque top would look great too, team up with a nice skirt (any length you like), or no skirt (frilly burlesque knickers, stockings I like slightly 'crazy' ideas and I'm still waiting for an event where I can wear a beautiful Sari I bought on Ebay for £15, black, sheer, beaded, and elegant!
Don't forget that if you feel a bit shy of showing off flesh (at first But if you want to invest a few pennies in things you can wear eleswhere, I'd go with Miss_Despotic's suggestion; an elegant dress works for any occasion! And heaven knows there are plenty going for a song on Ebay.
Have fun |
