Train rant! (3)

Bloody nightmare, after a good night out too.

We went to Pedestal again, not been for a while mainly cos the first direct train back in the the morning is now 5am and the club is open til then. Win/win.

We got our return tickets before getting on the train at home, as all good law abiding people do. We had a good time at the club and left alittle early to make sure we caught the train back. Station was shut and I'd hoped for a coffee to keep me awake! Humph never mind, not a biggy.

Train arrives on time, we get on and snooze. Until 'tickets please' shout Ouch! Np flower hands over our tickets and returns to snooze. Tickets not valid he says, appartently cos it was the next day. After discussion !!!*** - cos we were doing the return journey after a night out and it being his jobs worth, we had not choice but to pay for the return journey again ( not happy but nothing to done about it).

Jobs worth (ticket twat) leaves us to open the train doors.
He returns to take card payment - machine won't work.
He goes to open train doors.
He returns to take card payment - machine won't work.
He goes to open train doors.
He returns to take card payment - machine won't work.
He now decides to let us off!! ok to 'let us off' when it suits him then and walks away. At last back to our snooze. 15 mins later and 2 stops from home...
He returns to take card payment, machine now working! Has he really got nothing better to do??????

It'd be funny if it hadn't been so early?late. We could've got the train into London without paying, it really doesn't pay being honest!

Your right but by the letter of the rules your ticket isnt valid however if you had started your journey back before 1am and changed train onto the 5am train (I'm thinking one stop) then it would have been.

Open return or 2 singles is probably the best way

This is a really annoying blip with trains and tubes. If you have an evening out you are left with a decision: Leave around midnight or leave it till 5/6am for when trains/tubes start up again.

As you have found out this means more expense as its the 'next day' :o(

Open returns are the way to go, which might cost a bit more but are the only option really. - But which are not really promoted! You would think if you get a ticket late on a friday / sat night (eg 6pm onwards) then a prompt would be displayed or asked whether an open day ticket would be needed. But then they make loads from the fines and the fact there was a ticket inspector at 5:30 in the morning shows this.
