Has anyone ever noticed that there is a problem with The Golden Rule?

There is a problem with The Golden Rule. Please let me explain.

The Golden Rules says: "Do unto others as your would have them do unto you." It doesn't work.

Imagine if I were to memo one of the ladies on here and say:

Telephone my number, you slut (the actual number would be inserted here). My friends and I want to use you as our sex toy.

I think we can say, without too much fear of contradiction, that the young woman would be hurt and offended. She would, almost certainly, not telephone my number, although she might well write me an irate memo in reply. If I sent such a memo it would only create bad feeling. However, I would have been obeying The Golden Rule. I would have been doing unto others as I would have them do unto me. Do you not agree with me? In that case, please allow me to illustrate the situation a little further:

Imagine any one of the women here on IC. She might be a young woman, an old woman or middle aged woman. She might be attractive or ugly or plain. She might be thin or fat or (best of all) robust and healthy but not overweight. She might be an intelligent cultured woman or a woman who spits and swears and does not wash for days. Whatever this woman might be like, imagine she were to memo me on my IC account and say to me:

Telephone my number, you slut (the actual number would be inserted here). My friends and I want to use you as our sex toy.

The woman's telephone would be ringing the moment I had read the message.

Let's imagine the woman had added, my name is Julie. This is how the conversation would go:

Me: Hello is that Julie?

Julie: Yes. Whose's this?

Me: My name's Richard. Did you memo me on IC and say you and your girlfriends wanted to use me as your sex slave?

Julie: Yes. Yes, I did.

Me: Fabulous! When can I come over?

Surely "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law." is the Golden rule!

Do unto others (which to me sounds more like a bible quote than a 'rule') means, to me anyway, to treat others as you'd wish to be treated.

This doesn't mean exactly how. But like, where you say you'd love to be sent an e-mail from a woman inviting you to be her sex slave, in doing so the woman in question would (presumably) know that you would like and enjoy receiving and possibly acting on that memo.

If you messaged someone to invited them to be *your* sex slave, and you'd had no indication that they wanted that kind of contact at all, possibly even quite the opposite information... then you wouldn't be doing unto those as you'd have done unto you... would ya?

Because.. well you want to receive messages that are relevant to your kink... so really you should show the same respect when messaging others...

However, I am almost certain I have heard Do unto others as you would have them do unto you mentioned as the Golden Rule.

We became mates via his writings. As for being in touch via the spirit world, I have met him at least once in my dreams. We got on very well. It turned out we were both engaged on exactly the same project.

Also, he recommended the English Lake District, the writings of Bernard Shaw and climbing Ska-Fell Pike in his writings. As I investigate all three of these, in the 38 years which followed, I started to feel very close to my friend. So yes, I call him my friend, even though he dies in 1947 and I was not born until 1952. Indeed, perhaps I am even his re-incarnation? The dates fit, after all!
