Now, I know I can't strip out the red in my hair without going...'orange'... but I want to have a change from the red, the only problem is I absolutely refuse to go any shade of brown... I'll do blue/purple/pink etc, but not brown...
Are there any hairdressers on here that can advise? It's short and very strong, it'll take a lot of abuse in the colour department.
Thx in advance!

I'm not a hairdresser but I do know that red and blue make purple ... ergo ... if you add blue to your existing red, you should, hopefully get something resembling purple .... like I said though, I'm not a hairdresser so don't blame me if something terrible happens and it ends up ..... b***n Striving to better, oft we mar what's well. ~William Shakespeare, King Lear, 1605 Edited 5 May 11, 2:18 PM by Incandescence |

Go to a Tony & Guy or better still Essensuals- I've been every colour you can think of and never had any problems x |

I'm having the same issue going from a ridiculously bright red to a more coppery red - my hairdresser is having to strip some of the red out to be able to make the hair take evenly. My guess is if you want to go for a really bright colour they would use a lightener to strip the existing colour out, even the tone then apply the new colour. It could be worse... I have just been told I can't dye my hair because of the 'code of conduct' and I have a lovely shade of green picked out. I am being serious.. Well not about the green I wasn't. Adama: What do you hear, Starbuck? Edited 5 May 11, 4:27 PM by Ouroboros |

I had bright pillar box red at the ends of my hair and I took a chance and used a home bleaching kit. Worked fine, although I must admit, the colour I dyed it back to was dark brown, but would have thought that I could have tried blue or pink on it, as I do have those colours to hand.
I dont have a quote so I'll leave this bit blank...........cos I dont want to use up space till I have something really good to put here |

Having bunged a dark purple onto my honey-bleached-blonde and then added a red tint .... and still failed to go pink .... I can't really advise. I think there must be something in the water, either directly making our hair dye do what it's supposed to for once when we were actually hoping it'd go wrong and we'd get THE perfect psychodelia .... or making us barking mad. |

Thanks all... I guess what I'd really like is to get my hair to a base of silver (ish) it's going that way already, I'm probably over 50% there. And then be able to throw temp or semi colours (insane ones) over that. I think a trip to see my lovely hairdresser Scott will help... K x 'I heard she's a bit of a thug' Mister Bear. |
