After such a beautiful day today, its now pouring down. Waters rushing down the road outside my house like a little river. I live in a little terraced house and the front door opens right on to the pavement. I'm sitting with my front door wide open and watching it bounce off the road. To top it, its bright lightning and loud thunder. So dramatic.
I've always loved sitting inside just feet away from an open door watching the weather. I grew up in a tiny house with no bathroom and a loo at the bottom of the yard. When the rain was bad like this, I used to sit in there for hours sometimes just watching it and feeling so relaxed. As I got older we moved down the road to a bigger house with a bathroom, but the house still had an old loo at the bottom of the yard, and my Mum always preferred it. And to be honest, so did I. She wall papered it, with a boarder and everything and got one of those fleecy padded seats to make it more comfy.
When I packed up her stuff after she'd died, I sat in the loo at her house in the rain for the last time and thought how I'd ever get chance to do that again, but every time it rains like this, I open the door and watch it. It makes me think of her so much.

Funny how these things spark a fond memory , i remember listening and watching the rain in a small den i had built at the end of a garden at a house i used to live in up north . Made me feel safe away from someone i was scared of , send the thunder and rain to south Devon please and i will turn the TV and PC off and go sit in the conseratory ! Okay its not a den but it will do ! My mum warned me about you ! |

I'd like some of that, too. Send it to Northants when you've done with it, please. |

Do you people think I have the power to direct the weather? You can bet your ass if I could, I'd have told you about it before now. It's the little things Dude, the little things. |

I read this yesterday, and thought the whole "sitting in, opening the door and watching the rain" thing sounded lovely. Looks like I'm just about the get the opportunity to do it myself... the thunder's rumbling away. |
