It was Mistress Sweet Violet's birthday at the LLM today, and cake was brought along, and we sung happy birthday. A bit tuneless as most were a bit in their cups, but she didn't seem to notice, and it's the thought that counts!
I had in my mind that it was also Morphia's birthday, but no sez Joanie. And then the charming MerrynB produces a card and present for Mistress Nikki. Aha! So where is Mistress Nikki? I called her on the mobile telephonic device, and when "she" picked up, we all launched into a full chorus of another drunken happy birthday.
Cue Professor Tim, who asks who it is, and says Nikki is going from A to B (he told me but I can't remember) and would I like to speak to Mistress? Yes!
Cue another full chorus of "happy birthday" song.
Silence.
Nikki then gives thanks but says her birthday isn't til November.
MerrynB. You are ENTIRELY to blame for this!!
Anyway, Mistress Nikki, happy birthday for November

well... All we thought of to excuse it was maybe someone had my birthday down in US date format? That would be 11/04 naturally... even if that is so wrong. You had good voice on girls, I'll give you that!! Unfortunately, I didn't make LLM, partly because I spent 4 hours of life in a hire van broken down because someone before me filled it with Petrol not Diesel! MEH! Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective & permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment | |

You could have consulted the birthday list on b.com... The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going, at 66,000 miles an hour, around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be. | |

I'm just grateful I didn't go home via Oxford this time. I had to get the delectable @Dick_Velvet to come and collect me from the station though, because by the time I got to Slough I was pretty delirious ... I thought the Birthday songs were lovely (I even got everyone to sing Happy Birthday to me as I left the building). I must complain to the management about the slippery floors however; that's the only possible reason I can think of for falling off my chair!
