Wasp sting ...........WTF!! (9)

Posted by faeryboi on Tue 12 Apr 11, 10:36 PM to faeryboi's blog.

After what can only be called a horrendous day, toddler fell down flight of concrete stairs outside, thankfully she only has a graze on her knee!! but i was worried so got her checked out at A+E, she is fine. phewwwwww.. We left in time for dinner and she was very chatty about her trip to hospital. Then off to bed, As i reached for her toothbrush whilst chatting to her i didnt see the wasp on the handle until it was too late, JESUSFUCKINGMARYANDJOSEPH........IT STUNG ME!

My initial thought of thank god it wasnt her, the pain was the most hideous i can recall. I dont think i ever had a wasp sting before if this is the pain you suffer. My hand swelled up like a balloon, excruciating pain like knives shooting through the nerves, arm numb, sweating, dizzy and heart pounding like a drum. I cannot believe a wasp did all this, they are fucking lethal little buggers. Little one all distressed hearing me scream in pain asking what had happened. I told her i burnt it on the hot tap, kicking the wasp i had trampled on under the bin, the last thing i need is her being anxious around the little fuckers.

I've never had a wasp sting (not least of all because I have a near phobic fear of them and so spend all of 'wasp season' hiding from them, running around and panicking) but I do know it's not supposed to be that bad. If it really did make your arm numb etc I would suggest you've got an allergic reaction to the nasty things... but like you say, at least the little one didn't get hurt :)

I hate wasps too, ever since one flew up my dress and stung me more than once on my stomach (I was about 10 years old I think at the time)

Plus yesterday my son helped unload my shopping bags and promptly drop one on the floor saying there was a wasp in it, sure enough one had hitchhiked in the bag on my bike lol (I released it safely into the garden) :)

PS Try some allergy tablets and cream, they both help with the sting

I would agree and it would be a good idea to seek medical attention. Wasp stings are usually painful, but it is only an issue if allergy is concerned.

I've had a fear of wasps my whole life. I've never been stung thankfully but I came so close, years ago, when a wasp fell into my bra!

I closed my eyes as my boyfriend undid my shirt and pulled my bra down so that the wasp fell on the floor, then he stamped on it.

We were on a bus. We got off next stop.

Use vinegar for wasp stings and bicarbonate for bee stings. It helps neutralise the acid/alkali in the poison.

Wasp stings can be ridiculously painful, especially on the hands.

Bugger got me on the jawline, it had flown under my full face crash helmet..........Thank god for the hard shoulders on motorways.

A NICE policeman helped me get rid of it and stopped the pain so they're not all bad. :)

Ouch! Sorry you got stung hun. Glad it wasn't your little girl too. Funny thing is so many people worry about wasp stings and call them all the names under the sun and yet the worst sting you could get is off the so called harmless honeybee. The honeybee is never alone and when it stings it releases chemicals that actually entice all the other honeybees in the area to come and sting you too as if they are fighting a common enemy. If ever you get stung - pray it aint the honey bee lol! I love them all even though stung by a wasp but it does sound like you have a mild allergic reaction. Imagine what your giant hand looked like coming towards that little wasp. It was just trying to protect itself though I know that's not much of a consolation. Hope the pain has gone now.

Ouch. Vinegar used to help take the sting away when I was a child. Hope the swelling goes down. If you haven't any homeopathic remedies then anti inflammatories (can't spell that word) for you lovely.
