and it couldn't happen to a nastier newspaper .Really , they are the scum . the sort that give press a bad name( even worse than it should have). Its the sort of paper that gives idiots like rooney , and all the other so called 'celebs' a chance to show of their inanities.
personally I blame it all on Simon Cowall. - gods rotim. remind me never to be so desperate for 'fame' that I want to be on what passes for their front page.

I wouldn't say "may be libellous", I'd say that IS libellous about Murdoch. If I were Ishmael I'd remove it PDQ - Murdoch is not afraid to resort to legal action... ETA I'm in no way supportive of Murdoch's tabloids. I just think that the scummy way they out people for their private, legal sexual proclivities does not justify libelling or defaming their owner. Fear you could be right, but there is hope in this case, even if Thurlbeck has done the obvious thing and long since eliminated any evidence at his home. Or office. It seems those who did the actual voicemail break ins kept quite detailed records, and these days appear to feel more inclined to give evidence on who requested what than before. Amusingly, the early evening tv news showed an old clip of Yates saying "there is no proof who this Neville is". But Mulcaire knows. Plea Bargain ? In the High Court the Judge - Eady - trashed Thurlbeck's reliability as a witness fairly comprehensively; hopefully this will be admissable in any trial. The NotW have "found" a cache of "lost" emails, whose contents have not yet leaked, which might give rise to smoking somethings - Edmondson certainly left evidence that triggered his dismissal. Then Thurlbeck has his byeline on stories that appear to rely, er, quite heavily on the sort of information that might be left on voicemail and don't have any other source. He may have difficulty explaining all of them away to a sceptical jury. Finally, the unprecedented public spat between the DPP and the Met plus parliamentary scrutiny suggests that the Met may no longer control the agenda here. It just could be that Doghouse is right. Either way it will be fun to watch.

There is always the question of whether or not a criminal activity has been engaged it. For instance it is said they "hacked" into peoples voice mail boxes. Well, have you passcode protected yours? Do you know how easy it would be for someone to get access to your voice mail if you haven't? Someone phones you, hangs up then phones back immediately. Now they're through to your voicemail and by entering the default code (published on every phone providers website) they've got full access to all your voice mail. Have they hacked in? Not really. Neither have they "intercepted" any communications. If you don't passcode protect your voice mail you're being very silly. It's the equivalent of leaving your front door open with a big sign outside saying "burglars welcome".
