After my Speed Awareness course, my speeding certainly decreased and my Sat NaV only occasionally warned me that I was speeding - before it was going off on a regular basis. However, the other week Mistress suggested that I slow down even further to conserve petrol and it has to be said that driving has become a far friendlier experience.
Just a few months ago, I would have spent a lot of my time in the overtaking lane and it was a lonely place - no one knew you were there.
I'm happy to say that things have changed, in the "Slow Lane" people give you a BLAST on their Horns to say "Hello" and when they pass they "Wave" at you in a friendly way - it doesn't matter to me that they only use the Two Fingers or sometimes One, it's the thought that counts
.
Okay things haven't got quite that bad yet, but I'm certainly a reformed character thanks to my Wonderful Mistress
.
Best Wishes

Hi Swindoniumbdsmer, Thanks for your response, yes it's certainly true the way you drive does make a big difference to fuel economy and to an extent the life of the car. My car is a 1.8 Ford Focus but even I;ve noticed the improvement in fuel economy, Best Wishes George (Curious_Sub)

Hi Irene, thanks for your response and it did give me a bloody good laugh this morning. Have to admit that it is sad if the Biker in me is Dying, I've ridden Bikes for over twenty years now, on and off. Mistress wouldn't like me becoming a boring old fart - I must really change my ways, immediately Best Wishes George (Curious_Sub) D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F

What you will be experiencing is that the fuel ecconomy increase is not all down to the fact you are driving slower its the fact that you will not be braking and acclerating as much. The chances are that you will be keeping a steady pace for longer rather then acclerating then having to break for somebody pulling into lane 3. This is due to the fact and yes stating the bloody obvious that it takes more fuel to acclerate then it does keeping at a certain speed. Hence an improvement in your fuel economy.

Hi summberblues, Thanks for your response and yes you are of course correct, the essence of fuel economy is smooth driving - I'm certainly not accelerating as hard and I'm not braking as much either. Best Wishes George (Curious_Sub)
