I will be taking part in this years Cambridge Race for Life first weekend in July.
Part of me thinks I'm insane. What with the spinal prolapse (hopefully by then I will have had the needle therapy and be on the mend) And the chronic pain syndrome (which may be linked to extreme vitamin D deficiency that I am being treated for) I won't be racing anywhere. Forget race for life it will most definately be a stagger for life for me.
But it has always been important to me to do at least one thing a year to give back to the community or the universe for all I have been given. Normally I give a workshop at a local pagan festival this year I am missing that as my health is not up to camping.
So I am going to do the race for life instead. I will be doing it in memory of my father who died of prostate cancer in 2004. I will also be doing it in gratitude for the advances in cancer research and treatment that mean I am able to say that members of my family have had breast cancer and cervical cancer and had a full recovery.
So I won't be coming amongst the frontrunners. I won't be racing with anybody not even myself. I will take a steady pace that I can keep up for most of the walk, and doubtless I will finish hobbling, or staggering and relying on the stick that I will only be carrying at the start line. But I will finish determined little bint that I am.
If you can find it in your heart, and your pocket will allow you, please sponsor me either via my sponsorship page or memo me if you cannot donate online.
For anyone who donates please accept my deep gratitude.
