Without being too techie you need to address both impact and airbourne sound. To address the latter seal the voids in the decking first- open a window and close against traffic that is your airbourne illustration. To address impact provide the floating floor. Before spending money think about the source of the 'disturbance' Is it mostly the tap of high heels or the screams of pleasure? To be honest in the circumstances you describe the best solution was the'invite her round' because to reduce the sound enough it would cheaper to rent a dungeon once a month. The more you reduce the volume the harder they listen I used to think that 'It's always the hangnails of life that drag you down' but sadly the big things can knock you for six too |

Try these people as to take up and refix a floor is no small job its self. And you wont need to trim the door just change to raising butt hinges. Sound Solution Consultants Limited D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. OR Do I Look Like I Give A *uck |

Thanks for the advice everyone. So, it looks like I'll be researching that floating floor stuff a bit more. Gawd, it's so involved! |

Floating floor is certainly the only way forward, but for what you might spend doing that work, you could afford to rent a dungeon for many lengthy sessions. |
