Wow really...im not too keen on buying from the U.S as anything wand related seems to be VERY expensive and i have noticed that the U.S puts itself forward as THE authority on Violet Wands...pretty bad when your working on 110v lol.

It seems I was confused about something I vaguely remembered reading years ago.
A chain is indeed sometimes used instead of an insulated wire for safety. If there is a break in a wire inside the insulation, it will still continue to function, as the voltage will jump across the gap and you might not know its broken, but the wire may heat up at this point, and if it was on the floor, it could actually catch fire. If there is a break in a chain, it comes apart and stops working.
A spark gap is used to protect you from Line voltage and current when using something like a contact pad. If the insulation inside the wand were to break down, and in old wands that can be just waxed paper, this might allow mains electricity to get to the contact pad. This is not a problem with glass electrodes as the mains voltage is not high enough to pass through the glass/gas barrier. Its the current that can kill you.
People are often confused about the safety of electricity with regard to the heart.
Mains voltage: 230V 13A as you know can easily kill you, either by causing a heart attack, or just the current (AMPS) burning you.
TENS/EMS operates at hundreds of volts but very low current (AMPS) and passes into the tissues and interferes with nerve impulses and, depending on the intensity, blocks pain signals, directly stimulates nerves to pleasure or pain, and causes muscles to contract. As the heart is a muscle it can disrupt its function. Hence the often repeated "don't use across the heart" although you can buy Slendertone machines with attachments designed to stimulate the pectorals, which strap right over the heart.
Violet Wand operates at thousands of volts with almost no current. At these voltages the electricity is non-penetrating, it just travels across the surface of the skin, not into the tissues, and is quite safe to use on all areas of the body. Some of the original glass attachments were designed to use on the scalp, tongue or face. Similar devices are still made today for "beauty" treatments. If the pad is down your waistband the voltage has to get from there, past your chest, to get to your fingers!

A Van de Graaff generator produces static electricity. Not the same thing at all.

Never put a glass probe inside someone, when they blow they shatter into thousands of tiny pieces. Ouch thats major surgery removal.
We have used it with a metal speculum just touching the metal gives ultimate sensation dependant on how high its turned up obviously.
The metal prob your talking about, is held or put into contact with the receiving person, hold before turning on or you will get a belt from it. the giver then can touch the receiver with any object hands metal items to give sensation. CreatureKeeper has made a few in the past i can always ask him if he still has some spare to sell.
My favourite is clit torture with the fine metal ended probe!!!!!
In relation to the marks from violet wands you can actually do a temporary branding, only rule is never do an inclosed circle as the area needs a gap to allow to swell, or you will get a nasty blister, brands can last upto 6 weeks dependant on skin.

Lots of variation in both wand performances (some machines are just plain naff) , subject conductivity (get them shoes off gurl), the specific electrode deployed, and the manner in which it is deployed.
I like to use wands as a mainly sensual device, but we have ways and means of bringing most any folk to their knees. The 'subjects' by the sheer whack as can be inflicted, and the dominants by the price of a really decent machine.
