Had my lumbar puncture today. Twice
There wasn't a bed free when we got there, so we had to sit in the ward and wait for a few hours. Not the end of the world and they fed us, so that was nice.
Anyway, tried the procedure and it didn't work. Basically they needed a needle twice as long and would need to start again in radiography where they could complete the whole procedure during an x-ray. Because the needle was longer, they couldn't do it 'blind' as it wasn't safe to do. I didn't see the actual needle, and I'm glad. That fucker must have been huge.
Fair play, that shit hurt. And not in a good way- although I'm sure loads of you pervs would have loved it. Feeling something pushing inside your spine just ain't nice. So, pushed back to my ward on the bed (feeling a bit silly 'cos I'd cried- nothing new there) and had to lie flat for a few hours. Which was fun because I was on a ward full of crazy but harmless old women.
So, now the samples of spinal fluid (I asked if it smelled but it didn't- just curious) are sent to boffins and they decide if the best treatment for me is...
a lumbar puncture.

Glad you got through it ok. I hope they decide you won't need another. I've started praying to a god I don't believe that my consultant tells me it won't be necessary for me. x If you like it, do it. If you don't like it, do it anyway.

You know what, the first one was ok. Nowhere near as bad as i thought. Having to do the second wasn't, but they only have to do it like that a few times a year, they said to me. So the chances of that happening to you is really low. We don't live in the World as it is, we live in the World as we are.

I've had to have several spinal cortisone injections over the last year so know how it feels. It's a special kind of pain that noone would enjoy. And I punctured the palms of my hands with my nails last time lol, so crying is perfectly acceptable. xxx I'm not antisocial, I just dont like you.

Thank you darling. I feel like crap today. I didn't realise how sore and stiff I'd feel today. Feel like I've been kicked down the stairs.
