Had 2 agencies on the phone this morning about possible jobs, I send them my CV and a brief cover letter which explains my experience .. I have over 20 years in customer service so it isnt as if i am just starting out in my career. what do they do.. tell me to write to them with all the experience I feel relates to the role they have .. grrr.. why the fuck cant they just READ my CV .. then ask questions
So I have just spent the last hour writing out how fooking good I am at everything .. yeah yeah i know I am lying ... well little white lies
fingers crossed ... need to start getting interviews

Good luck on the job hunt hun. It's a nightmare out there so you just have to be consistent, persistant and bloody minded. x I'm not antisocial, I just dont like you.

Best of luck. Sadly these are tough times job-wise so I would see it as a positive that they want you to show yourself at your best. I came, I saw, I concurred

It's to see if you'll make the effort to jump through their hoops. And annoyingly in the current climate you probably have to do it ... <empathetic grunt>

Al lthe best.
I got my current job through reed.co.uk
directly with my employer then it makes sense to write up stuff
I didn't drop me a line if you'd liek my covering letter - I think is good, even though for a different job could give your good starting point

The difference is they aren't working for you, they are working for the employer. They want a paragraph or so summarising why your experience fits the role so that if it is the right type of role for you they don't need to spend time looking at your CV and figuring that out (they have probably 100s others to look at) and also so that when they are on the phone to the employer to get you an interview they don't have to think of what to say, but can instead say what you've written. They are lazy, but they are also busy. By the way, top tip I found out when I was unemployed - first half page of the CV is what gets searched for all the 'key words' they search on for roles they'll contact you on - so make sure it's jam packed full of key words. And keep 'refreshing' your CV on the job websites - they tend to search only the 'new' ones uploaded, not so much those that have been there a while. Phones suddenly went crazy when I changed one word and re-uploaded my CV... Good luck hon x kitten is in a coma so rose_in_chains is licking her wounds... all 'nilla for a while... But, as the song lyric goes, vanilla is the finest of the flavours... |
