I changed browsers from IE to Firefox a while back, and tried at the time to also transfer my bookmarks, but that failed miserably.
It just so happens I stumbled across them in their normal place (favourites/ links) again today, and when I mouse over each one the full web address is still there.
However, I can't seem to find any way of either recording this in clear or transferring these to Firefox. Every file I copy them (to a word file for instance) it just shows an IE icon as the web address...
I'm sure one or more of you folk will know the answer ..

This link gives instructions on how to transfer Favorites to Bookmarks. And failing that, if Firefox is your default browser then if you go to your Favorites folder then any of the links in there should open in Firefox. If not then you might be able to hold down shift and right click on the link and it should give you an Open With option, then you can choose Firefox and tick the box to remember the setting and then any IE link should open in Firefox. And if you can do that then you should be able to select a few at a time and open them together and then just bookmark each tab you want to keep. Or you might be able to drag and drop the IE link into Firefox and that will bring up the page and then you can bookmark it. I'm using terms like might as I'm currently using Firefox 4 Beta 12 and so not sure if all features will work with your version. Plus I tried the right clicking on links and didn't get the open with option and I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64, so not sure if it will work on your computer or not. But hopefully something I've mentioned will help. We've gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero. |
